U.S. corn and wheat export sales climbed during the week ending Oct. 1, while soybean sales fell sharply, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Corn export sales totaled 769,500 metric tons, up 44% from the previous week and 28% above the four-week average. Mexico was the leading buyer, purchasing more than 508,000 metric tons. Colombia and Japan followed.

Wheat export sales rose 56% from the previous week to more than 451,000 metric tons. Major buyers included the Philippines, South Korea, Bangladesh and Japan.
Soybean export sales declined 47% to about 549,000 metric tons. China purchased nearly 383,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans, but a large cancellation by an unidentified buyer reduced the overall sales total.
The weekly figures showed stronger sales for corn and wheat, while the cancellation weighed on soybean results despite purchases by China.
