Lois Fay Shipps, 69, of Holt, MO passed away March 24, 2026.
She was born on October 21, 1956, to Edward Doyle and Ann Elizabeth (Michelich) Gunter in St. Joseph, MO. Lois grew up in Buchanan County and she graduated from Dekalb High School in 1974.
On February 17, 1983, she was united in marriage to Ernest LeRoy Shipps. After their marriage they lived in several places while Ernest served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, they returned to St. Joseph, MO. They later settled in Holt, MO where they made their home.
Lois worked for American Family and Heartland Regional Medical Center both in St. Joseph. Lois’s favorite job was being a homemaker and mom. She enjoyed painting, crafting and loved baking. Most of all she loved family game night.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Lynda Shipps and her parents Ed and Ann Gunter.
Lois is survived by her husband Ernest Shipps; her son Daniel “Beeper” Shipps; brothers and sisters Mary Ann (Pete) Sauter, Jim (Cassie) Gunter, Doris (Eldon) Jenkins, and Bart Gunter; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower, MO.
