Rodney Dale McCoy, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023.
He was born on October 23, 1946, in St. Joseph to William Verl and Virginia Ruth (Green) McCoy.
He was a member of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam war in Germany. He was part of the 11th Airborne troops and a parachute instructor. After graduating from Missouri Western State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Rodney became a police officer for the St. Joseph police department. He also worked as a deputy sheriff for the Atchison County police department.
Rodney enjoyed traveling, visiting the casino, fishing and attending car shows with his brother, Bill. He was also a board member of the Village East Tower Apartments for seniors.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughters, Virginia “Ginny” McCoy and Erin McCoy; siblings, Edward McCoy, Connie McCoy and Bill McCoy; nephews, Richard Myers and Randy Myers (Sarah); and niece, Cheryl Wolfe (Al).
