Glenn A. Butts, 76, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer on April 11, 2024. Glenn was born February 24, 1948 in Kansas City, KS, to Glenn Angus and Wilma J. (Higgins) Butts.
Glenn was a graduate of North Platte High School in Dearborn, MO, and served his country honorably as Staff Sergeant with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Glenn retired from Johnson Controls after 28 years of service.
He married Karen K. Salzman on June 24, 1967 at First Baptist Church in Platte City, MO., and she survives. Also surviving are a son John C. Butts; daughter Mendy Stephens (Shane); grandchildren, Nick, Jaxson, Bailey, Karley, Jaeson, and Jacob Butts, Cassidy Routh, Luke and Jake Stephens; sister-in-law Melanie Waldroff (Robert); nephew Shawn Waldroff (Crystal); niece Stacy Anderson (Chris); other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother and sister-in-law Richard and Judith Butts.
He attended Grace Calvary Chapel. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Calvary Chapel or to Mosaic Hospice.
Services will be Friday, April 19, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Full military honors will follow the services. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
