BUCHANAN COUNTY—Two teens were injured in an accident just after 9:30p.m. Friday in St. Joseph.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Nissan Maxima driven by a 16-year-old boy from St. Joseph was northbound on Waterworks Road just north of Ellinger Road in St. Joseph.
The driver failed to negotiate a curve and continued onto BNSF Railroad private property. The car struck an embankment and overturned onto the railroad tracks. The driver and a passenger identified as a 15-year-old girl from St. Joseph exited the car as a BNSF locomotive struck the vehicle.
Buchanan County EMS transported the teens to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of minor injuries. There were no injuries on the train.
