Grain Valley man injured after car strikes semi's axel

NODAWAY COUNTY —A Missouri man was injured in an accident just after 3a.m. Friday in Nodaway County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Chevy Impala driven by Aaron L. Sartin, 32, Grain Valley, was southbound on U.S. 71 six miles south of Maryville.

The car came over the crest of a hill and struck the driver side rear axel of a 2016 Peterbilt semi driven by Lonnie B. Tompkins, 56, Maryville, who was turning southbound on U.S. 71 from 331 Street.

Nodaway County ambulance transported Sartin to Mosaic in St. Joseph. Tompkins was not injured. Sartin was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
