Sarah Jane Juarez, 99, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. Sarah was born September 26th, 1925 to David and Soledad (Carrion) Mejia in St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Benton High School.
Sarah married Manuel Juarez on June 19th, 1948 at the Holy Rosary Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. Manuel preceded Sarah in death in 2021. They celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Sarah and Manuel were proud 70 year members of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge, and went to numerous dances. They participated in many Mexican Fiestas at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society.
Sarah enjoyed making ceramic bowls along with gathering with her family to prepare authentic Mexican tamales at her home.
She was a dear aunt, godmother, and caregiver to many family members and extended family; too numerous to count. She was the oldest sister that looked after various family members, both younger and older.
Sarah was also preceded in death by both parents, David and Soledad (Carrion) Mejia, husband Manuel Juarez, brothers: David, Paul, Rudy, Bob, Jerry, and Sam Mejia, sisters: Elizabeth Valencia and Mary Littlejohn.
She is survived by sister Martha Chavez, sister-in-law Pauline Mejia, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Memorial contributions to be designated to St. Mary's Catholic Church would be appreciated.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM with visitation to follow until 7:00 PM on Sunday May 4th, 2025 at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri.
