Mustangs drop first game of MINK Championship series at Joplin Thursday

The St. Joseph Mustangs fell in game one of the MINK League Championship Series at Joplin Thursday, 7-3.

The Outlaws went up 7-0 after five innings. The Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the eighth, but never got closer.

St. Joseph managed only four hits. They drew nine walks, but left 10 total runners stranded on base.

The Mustangs still have a chance to win the league title at home this weekend. Game two of the championship series is Friday night at Phil Welch Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Game three is Saturday at Phil Welch at 7 p.m. if needed. The Mustangs aim for their third consecutive league championship and their eighth as a franchise.
