A four-year-old Wathena boy is being treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital after nearly drowning at an Independence Day party in Buchanan County.
Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett reports the father and grandfather of the boy performed CPR after rescuing the boy from the pool. Emergency workers rushed the boy to Mosaic Life Care. He then was transferred to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City.
Puett reports his officers responded to the residence on Southwest 36th Road Thursday night shortly before eight o’clock. The boy and his family were visitors at the party.
