A second-degree murder charge has been filed against 33-year-old Michael Hadden in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old St. Joseph woman.

Buchannan County Prosecutor Ron Holiday filed the formal charge in the murder of Minda Miller.

St. Joseph Police officers arrested Hadden without incident in St. Joseph at 10:30 last night. Police had been searching for Hadden since February 23rd. Hadden is accused of shooting and critically wounding Miller that evening near the intersection of 11th and Seneca Streets.

The probable cause statement says officers responded to 11th and Seneca on the 23rd and found Miller bleeding from a head wound. Miller was rushed to Mosaic Life Care hospital in St. Joseph.

A witness told police Hadden and Miller were in an argument earlier in the day. The witness observed Hadden fired one shot from a car before fleeing the area.

Police stated at the time of the shooting, Miller suffered a life-threatening wound. Miller was pronounced dead Monday at the hospital.

The probable cause statement says Hadden was on probation and parole for unlawful possession of a firearm.

St. Joseph police say Hadden has a criminal history out of New York, Kansas, and Missouri.

Hadden and Miller were in a relationship according to police.
