Adelina “Sis” Thompson, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
She was born May 5, 1950 in St. Joseph to Jose and Jessie (Sharp) Martinez.
Sis married Richard D. Thompson on September 9, 1989. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2010.
She had worked at Stetson Hats for many years.
Sis enjoyed shooting pool and going to the casino, where she sometimes had very good luck. An accomplished bowler, Sis was sergeant-at-arms of her bowling league and named to the Missouri Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005.
She also loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and siblings, Merced Martinez, Greg Martinez, Mary Martinez, and Manuel Martinez.
Survivors include her children, Becci Martinez, Michael Corkins (Marian Carpenter), and Kathy Corkins; grandchildren, Ashley (Sean Pritchett), Coltan (Sammie Brooks), Dylan, Jadeyn, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Creed, Jessa, Peighton, Lillian, Aurora, Carson, Cooper, Emelia, Adalynn, and Kharisma; siblings, Joe Martinez, Juan Rodriguez, Rick Martinez (B.J.), Bernadine Moss (Kenny), and Bob Martinez; numerous other extended family members and friends; and her beloved dog, Rocket.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
