Dorothy Wilmina (Agnor) Kurtz was born on October 24, 1926 in Xenia, Ohio. She was one of four children of Herman and Alma (Carman) Agnor. Dorothy graduated from Central High School, Xenia, Ohio and attended Ozark Bible College for two years.
On August 22, 1952 she married Herbert Kurtz in Xenia. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage before his death on March 15, 2007.
Dorothy was a typical farm wife of her generation, and served as the pianist at New Point Christian Church for many years. She also taught Sunday school and Bible school classes there. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren, and served as “Prayer Warrior” for her entire family.
After Herbert’s death she sold the farm and moved to Oregon. Dorothy volunteered at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, the Oregon Care Center, and Hope House in Forest City.
Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at a Mound City, Missouri care center.
She was also preceded in death by two children, Eva Lynn Kurtz and Lyle Thomas “Tom” Kurtz; brothers-in-law, Willard Delaney, Bill Duncan, Emmett and Ivan Kurtz, and George Mohler; and sisters-in-law, Maxine Kurtz, Emma Lou Kurtz, and Verlene Mohler.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice (Ron) Riggsby, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Suzanne Catterson (Mike Hoeper) Oregon, Missouri; sisters, Evelyn Delaney, Bucyrus, Ohio, and Rita Duncan, Xenia, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Omalee Agnor, Xenia, Ohio; six grandchildren, Andrea LeBakken, Preston Catterson, Kaitlin Bradley, Jennifer Riggsby, Stephanie Riggsby, and Trevor Riggsby; seven great grandchildren, Laini Sisk, Lukas Lebakken, Jaidan, Kennedy and Beau Catterson, Jayden and Tristan Riggsby, and Bristol Bradley; and nieces and nephews.
Family visitation: Sunday, December 8, 2024, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Missouri. Services: Monday, December 9, 2024, 10:00 am, New Point Christian Church. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri.
