TJ Friedl scored the tie breaking run in the 10th inning on Jonathan India’s grounder, and the Cincinnati Reds beat Kansas City 5-4 Monday to hand the plummeting Royals their seventh straight loss.
Salavador Perez tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth with a home run. Cincinnati quickly recovered, however.
Friedl was initially ruled out at the plate, but the call was overturned following a replay review.
The Royals face Cincinnati again on Tuesday night at 7:10 central. The game is on KFEQ (680, 95.3) in St. Joseph. Jordan Lyles will start on the mound.
