Franklin Delnor Rosevelt Hess, 91, Amazonia, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Franklin was born August 1, 1932, to Tom and Mable Hess of St. Joseph, Missouri.
On April 22, 1950, he married the love of his life, Hester C. Smither, and she still remains of the home.
For most of his life, he was self-employed doing what he loved, being a mechanic and working with his dump truck, his John Deere tractors, backhoe, and working in the garden.
He spent many years being an evangelist and was an independent preacher. He loved playing his guitar and singing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mable Hess; his daughter, Shelia; his son, Craig; and six siblings.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Stull (Bill) of Elwood, KS; his sons, Steve Hess Sr. (Chris) of Amazonia, MO and Tim Hess (Pam) of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Steve Hess Jr. (Tabatha) of Plattsburg, MO; Shannon Hess (Jennifer) of Amazonia, MO; Sharlene McMillian (Jimmy) of Plattsburg, MO; Seth Hess (Amber) of Amazonia, MO; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other extended family.
Farewell Services 3:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Amazonia Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
