Larry “Kent” Miller, 65, of Helena, MO passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at his home in Helena. He was born on May 25, 1958 to Larry G. & Vernelle (Farrell) Miller. He married Raelyn Dewey on April 12, 1991 in St. Jospeh and she survives of the home.
Kent graduated from Savannah High School in 1976, joining the US Navy later that year where he proudly served as a boiler technician 2nd class on various ships ported in Oakland and Long Beach, CA. His fleet traveled around the world where he was able to visit various countries such as Japan, Pakistan and Australia. His ship was also in the fleet that accompanied the recommissioned USS Missouri from Long Beach, CA to port in Hawaii. Being a native Missourian, he was very proud of this expedition.
Kent enjoyed working as a diesel mechanic, most recently for Matt’s Mobile Truck Repair, and also the years he spent over the road in his semi. He loved living and working on the farm and always had a host of pets surrounding him. He was a member of Amazonia VFW Post 12053.
Survivors include his wife; sister, Lori (Jerald Bowland) Sticken of Savannah, MO; nephew, Keiffer (Shianne Bisig) Sticken of Columbia, MO; sister-in-law, Cindi Dewey of Kingman, AZ; aunt, Leota Wilson of Country Club, MO; and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Kevin Sticken.
Memorial services will be 2:00pm Friday, April 5, 2024 at Helena United Methodist Church, 21201 Sycamore St, Helena, MO 64459. Memorial visitation will be held 1:00pm-2:00pm Friday, April 5, 2024 at Helena United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be mailed to Amazonia VFW Post 12053, 53 State Rt K. Amazonia, MO 64421 or brought to the church the day of the service. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home Savannah, MO is in charge of local arrangements.
