Parachuter pulled by ATV injured after tow rope snaps

WORTH COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 5:30p.m. Saturday in Worth County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1991 Honda 4-Trax 300 driven by Cael D. Schmitz, 21, Lebanon, was northbound on a private grass runway at 140th Lane three miles northeast of Grant City.

The ATV was towing a person in a parachute with approximately 110 feet of rope.  The tow rope snapped and the parachuter identified as Jacob W. Dickinson,37, Fort Collins, Colorado, fell from the sky and landed in a nearby hayfield.

Dickinson was air-lifted to University Health Truman Medical Center. Schmitz was not injured.
