Winona Christensen, 91, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away at her home on November 7th, 2024 following a lengthy illness.
Winona was born May 22nd, 1933, in Fortescue, Missouri to parents Alton and Beulah Hinkle. Winona graduated from Craig High School in the class of 1951, and went on to the Missouri Methodist School of Nursing where she obtained her Registered Nurse License in 1954.
Winona met her husband Laurel Christensen and they were married in October 3, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO. Winona was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, and brother Wendell Hinkle. Winona is survived by her two children, Brooks Christensen, (Carmen), of Humble, TX and Charlotte Mitchell, (David), of Willard, MO, two grandchildren, John Mitchell (Jaci) of Bella Vista, AR, and Molly Grellner (Garrett), of Springfield, MO, her brother, Anthony Hinkle, and sister-in-law, Virginia Hinkle of St. Joseph, MO.
A memorial service with Nurse's Honor Guard Ceremony will take place; Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 at 10:00am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Blvd. St. Joseph, Missouri with private inurnment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri.
