Rhonda Sue McDowell, 69, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. Rhonda was born on April 21st, 1957 Elvina (Ashford) and Donald Gene McDowell in St. Joseph, Missouri. Rhonda grew up and resided in St. Joseph, Missouri her entire life. She graduated from Lafayette High School with the class of 1975.
Rhonda worked for Custom Cable and Wyeth Hardware assembling wiring harnesses. When not at work Rhonda enjoyed to spend her time surrounded by her family, crocheting, reading, or watching a good crime show on TV.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Donald Gene McDowell, mother, Elvina (Ashford) Allen, and stepfather, Gary Allen, sister, Jan Elder, and brother, Greg McDowell.
She is survived by her cherished family. Survivors include her son, Richard Adkins (Natasha), Grandsons, Devon Adkins, Calvin Adkins, and Logan Adkins, Great-Grandson, Colton Adkins. Additional survivors include her brothers, Randy McDowell, Brian McDowell, and Mark McDowell. She is also survived by special relatives Jason and Heather McDowell.
Rhonda has been cremated under the care and direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel of St. Joseph.
A celebration of life service will be held at the family home at 4812 Corinth Drive, St. Joseph, Missouri, on Saturday, May 9th from 2:00-4:00 PM where friends and family will gather to celebrate Rhonda's life.
