David was born in Maryville, Missouri to Vancil Icke and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Pope Icke. Dave grew up in Barnard, Missouri, where he attended school.
He participated in many activities, but excelled at basketball and track. He was also chosen to attend Boys State his Senior year of high school. After graduation Dave attended technical school in Chillicothe, MO and went on to work for Sears Roebuck and Co., where he retired after 32 years of service.
Dave's love of travel led to a short stint of truck driving after retirement. Truck driving was a highlight of his working career. David was married 3 times.
From those marriages 4 children were born. Lisa Icke Simbro, Latisha Little (Jared), Cody Icke and Bliss Icke. He also had 2 step children; Travis Atkins (Christina) and Amy Lujan (Luis). David also had 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Dave was an ornery, fun-loving guy. His favorite pastimes were racing, traveling the country (especially by train) and attending his grandchildren's athletic events.
David was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, granddaughter Emma Danielle Simbro, cousin/brother Reggie Icke Simerly, Reggie's daughter, Tina Bonnett, and his beloved dog, Louie.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1-3:30pm at the Knights Of Columbus Hall at 1205 North 49th Terrace.
