During their annual organizational meeting, the Brown County Commission re-appointed Lucas Heinen as board chairman for 2026. The Commission designated The Horton Headlight as the official county newspaper for the year, accepting their bid of $2.20 per column inch for legal notices over The Hiawatha World's bid of $3. Melanie Mears was also re-appointed as the county Health Officer for 2026.
