"The rate of success for new businesses is 1 in 20." That's a quote from Dr. Gary Clapp at a recent Agribusiness committee meeting at the Kit Bond Science and Technology Incubator.

Clapp is the director of the incubator on the campus of Missouri Western. The Kit Bond Innovation Stockyard was born 18 years ago when a St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce's study revealed a need for a place for new companies to go to for resources.

Clapp says the incubator can increase the chances for success for a new business and help with problem solving. It is a resource for local/regional businesses, for Missouri Western and for the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce.

Harvest 360 is the latest company to partner with the incubator by establishing a Hemp R&D laboratory. Todd Scattini, the president of H360 labs is excited and passionate about the opportunity and how his company will be able to meet the needs of many in the community.

Hemp was a crop that was grown and thrived in Northwest Missouri for many years, until a federal law changed things in the 1930's.
