Robert "Bob" Medeiros Barboza 77, of Agency MO passed away on Sunday June 15, 2025 in Pella, Iowa. He was born September 5, 1947 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Alphonse and Mary Medeiros Barboza. Spending his youth in New Bedford, MA, Bob graduated high school and was a member of the ROTC. After graduation he joined the United States Airforce and was stationed in Anchorage, AK. He held the rank of SGT as a Material Facility Specialist.

While visiting Missouri with a comrade, he met his future wife, Jeannie Gail Furst. On June 26, 1971 they were united in marriage. Married for 53 years they created a loving life and family.

Bob enjoyed being a big part of his children’s love of sports. He coached many of their softball and baseball teams; and was a big fan in the stands during football and basketball games. He enjoyed being a scout leader and his time with his son and friends at Camp Geiger.

Bob loved vacations, with the ocean being his favorite destination. He was an amazing woodworker and in retirement began painting and building 3-D puzzles of all shapes and sizes. He never lost his love for the East coast and the food he grew up with. Once a year he would order a supply of this favorite Portuguese sweet bread, linguiça, and fried calms.

Bob spent his professional career as an office-manager/controller. Even after retirement he continued to do contract work for his last employer for an extra 12 years!  He loved numbers.

Most of all Bob enjoyed being around family and friends and having a good time. His proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren whom he was happy to brag about anytime someone would listen.

Those left to carry on his legacy of kindness and friendship include his daughter Bobbie (Scott) Starmer of Harvey, IA; son Neil (Danelle) Barboza of Agency, MO; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother Daniel Barboza of Acushnet, MA; several nieces and nephews and his brothers and sisters-in-law. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, his mother and father-in-law Leonard and Louanne Furst, and his wife, Jeannie.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm Thursday July 3rd, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO.  Inurnment and military honors will follow the memorial service at Bennett Lane Cemetery, Savannah, MO.
