Lila Belle Nash February 22, 1920-April 25, 2025

Lila Belle (Vance) Nash, 105, of Platte City, MO passed away, April 25, 2025.

She was born on February 22, 1920 in Smithville, MO to Willis Lee and Cora (Asher) Vance. She was the youngest of their two daughters. She graduated from Smithville High School, class of 1938.

She was married on August 14, 1940 to Joe Bill Nash. Two children were born to them; a son, Gary Nash, who died December 30, 1956 at the age of 15, and a daughter, Jo Karen (Nash) Brown.

She was a lifelong resident of Clay and Platte Counties. She was blessed to have had 70 years and 9 months of wonderful marriage to the love of her life, Joe Bill, until his death on May 4, 2011.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Platte City; a 70 year plus member and past Matron of the Daisy Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; member of the Platte City Study Club, the Platte County Historical Society; member and past Regent of the Platte Purchase Chapter, DAR; and a past member of the Leavenworth Country Club and Leavenworth Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She was happiest caring for her home and family, loved all aspects of sewing and needlework, even tailoring jackets at the age of 94. She enjoyed golf and bowling as long as she was able.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Emma Lee Morgan (age 103) and son, Gary.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Karen Brown, her “favorite” son-in-law, William Brown; three grandsons and their wives, Gary Graham and Cathy Brown, William Perry and Amy Brown, and Kenneth Nash and Heather Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cameron, Ben, Kate, Kenadi, Nash, and Jude Brown; one niece, Betty Morgan; two nephews, Bill Morgan and John Morgan.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th at First Christian Church in Platte City, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.Burial: Platte City Cemetery, Platte City.

Donations may be made to the First Christian Church or the Platte County Historical Society.
