Daniel Monroe Newport, 74, of Platte City, MO, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO. Dan was born October 13, 1948, in Lexington, Missouri to Orville H. and Ruth M. (Bell) Newport.
He was a graduate of Lexington High School. Dan served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Conflict; and was always very proud of his service to this great country. He married La Donna Kay Wiesner on December 22, 1967, in K.C., MO. Dan was active in many courses at the local YMCA, loved to go to car shows with his friends, and enjoyed going on cruises.
He was preceded by his parents.
Dan is survived by his wife La Donna; son Aaron Newport; daughter Andrea (Rod) Lasley ; grandson Gage Jacobs-Newport; 2 brothers Bill Newport, and Roger (Pat) Newport, and their daughter Debbie Newport.
A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment with military honors will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS at 12:30 p.m.
