No Polar Plunge this Saturday.
It’s too cold.
The Polar Plunge which raises money for Special Olympics Missouri has been moved from Saturday, February 15th, to Saturday, March 22nd.
Organizers pointed to the current frigid conditions and the weather forecast for the weekend which calls for a mixture or rain and snow likely in the morning with a high of 37.
The Polar Plunge will be held at the St. Joseph Aquatic Park at 402 S. Noyes Blvd. Registration will begin at 11am with the plunge starting at 1pm. All current registrations and donations will carry over to the new date.
Special Olympics in a news release states, “The safety of our participants, volunteers, and spectators is our top priority. Given the expected weather conditions, we made the decision to reschedule to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.”
The Polar Plunge supports Special Olympics Missouri, where participants take a cold dip to benefit athletes with intellectual disabilities.
