David Michael Holland, 70, of Platte City, MO passed away, August 15, 2025.
He was born on March 29, 1955 to David Lee and Kelly Lee (Freeman) Holland in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dave grew up in northwest Missouri and graduated from Mound City, MO. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University and received his bachelor’s degree in biology. While there he was involved in the Christian Campus Ministry. It is there that his faith took root, and he met his wife, Alice.
On September 3, 1977 he was united in marriage to Alice Irene Snow. After their marriage they moved to Lawrence, KS where he earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. He worked as a Pharmacist at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville for nine years. In 1989 the family moved to Platte City and he worked at the Leavenworth VA Hospital and retired after over 30 years.
Dave was a member of the Hoover Christian Church and for years he taught Sunday school, played the organ and did occasional preaching. He was a member of the Platte City Community Band and played with bands in Smithville, MO and Atchison, KS. Dave was an avid Kansas Jayhawks, Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Royals fan. He was a member of the Platte County R-3 School Board for twelve years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dave is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Ethan David (Kristen) Holland, Joel (Angela) Holland, and Emily (Matthew) Smith; grandchildren, Claire, Griffin, Elliot, Drew, Leni, and August; siblings, Steve (Angie) Holland, Julie (Dave) Pollock, and Greg Holland; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21st Hoover Christian Church. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 22nd at Hoover Christian Church. Burial: Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO.
