Dorothy A. (Bonnel) Hobbs, 76, of Atchison, Kansas died at home, as her granddaughter read to her and surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas, with Pastor Stephen Lucas officiating the service. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Helping Heroes and maybe sent in care to the funeral home. Dorothy was born July 29, 1947, in Houston, TX, the daughter of Sid and Deloris (Clem) Bonnel. She received her bachelor's degree and worked for the State of Kansas SRS until retirement in 2009. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, car shows, traveling, cruises, and canning what she raised in her orchard. She was a caregiver to her family and very active in her family’s lives.
She is survived by son, Sid (Melissa) Hobbs, Colony, KS, daughter, Deanna (Dan) Volle, Atchison, KS, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, brother, Rick (Donna) Bonnel, St. Joseph, MO, sisters, Cindy (Leo) Scherer, Topeka, KS, and Janet (Daniel) Neal, Nortonville, KS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joe, and John Bonnel.
