East Buchanan's Madi Jessen takes third, Central's Ali Perry medals at state golf

The girls’ state golf tournaments concluded in all classes Tuesday afternoon, and there are three medalists from the KFEQ/St. Joseph Post area, including a top three finisher in Class 1.

Class 1 in Bolivar

East Buchanan senior Madi Jessen finished third overall, shooting a round-one 88 and round-two 92. She was only eight strokes off the lead and three strokes away from finishing second.

A two-time district champion, Jessen finished fourth at state last year.

The Bulldogs finished 4th out of 9 teams - six shots ahead of 5th place East Atchison. The Maysville girls finished 9th as a team. East Atchison’s Jamie Barnett finished tied for 13th, shooting a 101 and 99.

Class 2 in Columbia

Savannah’s Mollee Olszowka finished 18th with a first-round 92 and second-round 88. She was only five strokes away from medaling. Benton’s Jaida Cox tied for 46th with rounds of 97 and 108.

Class 4 in Springfield

St. Joseph Central’s Ali Perry comes home a state medalist, placing 13th with rounds of 82 and 78. She placed 23rd at state the year prior.

Evan Sigars tied for 49th, shooting a score of 90 on each day. Sigars placed 55th at the state meet last season.
