Janet C. Cunningham, 94, Naples, Florida, formerly St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026.
She was born October 21, 1931 to Clare G. and Sophia (Sontheimer) Wineland in St. Joseph, Missouri.
After graduating from Lafayette High School in 1949, Janet's earnest and diligent nature led her to a rewarding career as a court clerk for Buchanan County.
Janet married Billy G. Cunningham on April 30, 1987. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, remaining strong until Billy's passing on December 19, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; siblings, Clayton Wineland and Marilynne Young.
Survivors include her children, Steven Stock (Rebecca) and Stacy Smith (Brian); grandchildren, Ashley Schwind (Stephen), Andrew Smith (Kelly), and Courtney Mitchell (Nick); great grandchildren, Dalton, Ben, Kate, and Hadley; extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 6, Horigan Chapel. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary 5:30 P.M., Thursday, March 5, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 5, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Bishop LeBlond High School.
