Grace E. Sheeley, 91, of Nortonville, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at her home.
Grace was born on August 22, 1934, in Hawthorn, Kansas, the daughter of Maberley and Pansy (Russell) Newman. She received a bachelor’s degree in education and taught in local schools. She married Bobby Dean Sheeley on Aug. 5, 1956, at Cummings United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2016. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and word searches. She was a member of the Cummings United Methodist Church until it closed and then became a member of New Covenant UMC in Nortonville, KS.
She is survived by her son; Collin Sheeley, and daughters; Rachel and Candace Sheeley. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Tom Newman, sisters, Jean Jackson and Ruby Krueger.
Grace has been cremated under the direct care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Round Mound Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to New Covenant UMC, Nortonville, KS, Parkinson's Foundation, or to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care to the funeral home.
