Curtis E. Malotte 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 18, 1943 in St. Joseph, MO, and graduated from Benton High School in 1961, and attended the St. Joseph Junior College. He married Linda Moore on August 10, 1963, and they shared 62 years of marriage together. Curtis was an Insurance Claims Adjuster for several companies, retiring from Safeco in 2006. He loved camping, and he was an avid sports fan.
Curtis never met a stranger, in fact his motto was "a stranger is a friend I haven't met yet", he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone who needed him. Curtis loved the Lord, and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he was ordained a Baptist Deacon 1996. Curtis was very active in the "South Side" community, serving in leadership positions with the South St. Joseph Progressive Association, serving on the grants board, the South Side clean up committee, meals on wheels, the highway 59 trash clean up committee, and he was the Santa Claus for the Hyde Park Christmas tree lighting ceremony. He also served on the South Side Fall Festival Committee, organizing and serving as the Master of Ceremonies for the grand opening on Friday night for over 20 years, he was the South Side Fall Festival Parade Grand Marshal in 2014.
Curtis was very proud of his membership and association with the Masonic Lodges, he was a member of the Brotherhood Lodge #269 A.F. & A. M., a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, St. Joseph Valley, York Rite Bodies, Red Cross of Constantine, Masonic Hi-Twelve Club #49 (serving on the pallbearer team), and the Moila Shrine.
Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Malotte, brothers, Dean, Arthur Dale, and Evan Malotte, sisters, Lila Malotte, Thelma Longers, and Azelda Paul.
Survivors include: wife, Linda Malotte of the home, daughter, Rhonda Embrey of St. Joseph, MO, son, Rodney (Karla) Malotte of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren: Josh (Lydia) Embrey, Sean (Jessica) Smith, Dakota (Timberlee) Malotte, Brock Malotte, Tyler (Michaela) Schildknecht, Taylor (Dylon) Taylor, and Lacie May, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Josh Embrey officiating. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Midland Ministries.
