Roxanna U. Phillips, 88, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph, Missouri on January 26, 2024. Born on May 3, 1935, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to the late William J. and Anna E. (Williamson) Urquhart, she cultivated a life enriched with education, family, and service which emanated a legacy of love and spirited grace.

A proud graduate of Cornell University, Roxanna not only achieved academic success but also a beautiful, lifelong partnership, meeting her soulmate Richard E. Phillips on campus grounds. Their celebrated union began on August 30, 1958, and flourished through decades of shared passions and commitments. With a heart for guiding others, she embraced the rewarding role of a home economics teacher in New York before continuing to inspire young minds in Missouri. Roxanna later continued her career at JoAnn's fabric store, imparting her expertise and joy for creation until her well-earned retirement.

Roxanna's sustained fervor for life was evident in her abundant interests and community involvement. She was a devoted member of the Savannah United Methodist Church, where she blended faith with fellowship. Her inherent talents in fiber arts and her gift for gab found a harmonious blend in groups such as Welcome Wagon and Stitch 'n Chat. Outside of community circles, she kept active with water aerobics and reveled in cultural enrichment alongside Richard, attending symphonies, musicals, and unforgettable quilting trips with her daughter.

Family was the corner piece of Roxanna's world. Her radiant life continues to be celebrated by her husband, Richard; her children, Roberta Lawson and Russell Phillips (Janelle); and adored grandson, Ethan Phillips. Roxanna now joins her parents and brother, Ross Urquhart, in eternal rest, leaving an indelible imprint of a life exuberantly lived and freely given.

Farewell Services 9:30 A.M. Thursday February 8, Savannah United Methodist Church. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
