Georgia Kathryn (Schaber) Golden passed away on March 4, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born December 18, 1937 in St. Joseph MO to George Andrew & Nellie May (Black) Schaber. She was known for her friendly and caring nature until the very end of her life.

Georgia married Gene Golden on March 3, 1956. They lived most of their life in Savannah, MO working a dairy farm. Georgia also worked locally at Morrison Bookkeeping for several years. In 1990 Gene & Georgia moved to Stockton MO where they owned and operated a small antique shop and mobile home park. Georgia returned to Savannah in 1996 after Gene's passing.

As a married couple, Gene & Georgia enjoyed fishing together. They loved to host a family fish fry and share their catch as well.

Georgia enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were younger. She spent time at meetings, camping, and all kinds of other scouting events. Her greatest passion was sewing, cross-stitching, and quilting. She spent many hours creating quilts as gifts for family members - each one a blessing and treasure to remember her by. Her favorite project was the 'Tree of Life' that she cross-stitched while sitting by Gene's side as he fought cancer - kept her mind and hands busy during a difficult time.

As a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church Georgia led and participated in Bible studies, kept busy with projects for the United Methodist Women's Bazaar, and helped prepare many meals for various church occasions. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Georgia is survived by her daughters - Sherry Golden, Gallatin MO; Sharon Wedekind (Kim), Platte City MO and Carla Scheib (Scott), Oregon MO. Other survivors include her grandchildren Rachel Piper (Roman); Lindsey Ritter (Brandon); Jacob Wedekind (Katie); Abby Christensen (Nicholas) and Brett Scheib (Sarah); her great grandchildren Meghan & Luke Piper; Aiden, Jackson & Mia Vasquez; Savanna & Sawyer Ritter; Dylan & Harper Christensen and Emma & Eric Scheib. Her grandchildren & great-grandchildren are honored to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation and family receiving hours will be 2:00pm - 4:00pm Sunday, March 10, 2024, and memorial services will be 10:00am Monday, March 11, 2024. Both at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah MO.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her honor may be made to Oregon Care Center Activities Fund, 501 S Monroe, Oregon MO or Savannah United Methodist Church, 103 N 4th St, Savannah MO.
