Leavenworth, KS - Susan Kay Loftus lovingly known as "Susie" or "Suze" to  those close to her, passed away on July 27, 2023, at the age of 68 after bravely  fighting a two-year battle with squamous cell carcinoma. Born on May 23, 1955,  in Maquoketa, IA, Susan was the daughter of Duane and Nancy (Hebbeln) Becker, and grew up with her brother, Ed Becker, as the eldest, and her twin  sister, Sandra "Sandy" Becker, by her side.

Susan's journey in life led her to the Kansas City metro area, where she  graduated from DeSoto High in 1973. While she initially enrolled at Avila  University, she soon found her true calling when she was hired by Hallmark  Cards, where she would dedicate an impressive 45 years of her life. Starting as  a Gravure Printing Operator, Susan's dedication and hard work led her to become one of the first females to hold the esteemed position of Lead Press  Operator at the Hallmark - Leavenworth, KS manufacturing facility. In her personal life, Susan went on to marry John Loftus and together they welcomed three wonderful boys, Mitchell, Jordan, and Nolan.

Susan had a reputation for her tough exterior and no-nonsense attitude, always  unafraid to speak her mind. While some may have found her blunt honesty  intimidating, those who truly knew her understood that beneath that tough exterior was one of the most harmless and selfless souls, who took joy in the  simplest of pleasures like the hot summer weather, working out, or going to the movies.

After a fulfilling life, Susan is survived by her father, Duane Becker, her brother,  Ed (Cyndy) Becker, her sister, Sandy Becker, and her three loving sons, Mitchell  Loftus, Jordan (Jayme) Loftus, and Nolan Loftus. As well as her grandson,  Christopher Loftus. Additionally, she leaves behind her nieces, Hollie Becker,  Hillary (Josh) Hance, and her nephew, Leo (Brianna) Becker.

Susan's mother, Nancy Becker, preceded her in death just over a month before  her passing, and the two now rest together in peace.

In honor of Susan's wishes, she will be cremated, and her children will host a  "celebration of life" service at a later date. Memorials are preferred to  Leavenworth County Humane Society or donor’s favorite charity.

Susan Kay Loftus will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing  her. Her unwavering dedication, honesty, and selflessness will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May her soul rest in  peace and her legacy of hard work and love continue to shine bright in the lives  of those she touched.
