Delores Mae Widener, 88, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital.
She was born April 5, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Lillian and Alva Mead. She graduated from Lafayette High School, and was a homemaker. Delores loved her church, playing the piano and organ, never missing a Sunday, she also enjoyed gardening, crafting and ceramics. She loved camping with her husband Bill, later acting as his caregiver. Delores was a long time member of the New Home Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband, Bill Widener, her parents, son, Timothy Lee Widener, and granddaughter, Serenity. Survivors include: son, Bill Widener of Platte City, MO, grandchildren: Scott Widener, St. Joseph, Bryan (Tania) Widener, Moodus, CT, Ben Widener, Melinda (Steve) Wilson, seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and her sister, Shirley Matthews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10:00 am Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Samuel officiating. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb. Memorials are requested to the New Home Baptist Church.
