Linda Louise Holland 1937 - 2024

Linda Louise Holland, age 87, of Savannah, MO passed away Thursday July 18, 2024, at her home. Linda was born on July 8, 1937, at Marshall, MO to Hubert Austin and Ida Louise (Duncan) Haynie. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1955. She married Donald Wayne Holland on December 30, 1956, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. They have been married for 67 years.

Linda, soon after being married, began working as a seed analyst for the MFA seed division in Marshall until 1959. From 1959 to 1965, Linda and Donald ran a restaurant and tire business in Miami MO. In 1965, the Holland family moved to a farm near Amazonia, MO. On the farm, she loved to garden, raise all kinds of poultry, rabbits, and ride her horses.

Linda was quick to get involved in community activities. She loved children and was known as being a second mother to many kids. She was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi in Savannah, MO. She was a Cub Scout leader of Troop 219. She taught Sunday School, Youth Bible Study and Vacation Bible School at Amazonia Methodist Church. She was an Assistant leader of Lone Star 4H Club. Linda helped organized the Amazonia preschool PTA and also served as PTA President. In 1982, Linda began working at Heartland West Hospital in Admissions. She enjoyed her work there and served 12 years until her first grandchild was born in 1994. 

In 1989, Linda and her husband Donald built a convenient store known locally as "The T-Stop" located near Savannah, MO. As the business grew, it soon became the center for local farmers, friends, and guests to gather, share stories, eat, trade, and get a friendly smile from Linda. She was known for helping others in need as they passed through. The "T-Stop" was sold in 2023 after 34 years of providing community service.  

Linda enjoyed traveling throughout Missouri, the Midwest and visited several countries. 

Linda had three sons and three grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. She immersed herself in their education, school activities, and careers. She was known as "Memaw" by her grandkids. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and son, Douglas Keith   

Survivors include husband, Donald Wayne Holland, of the home, sons Gregory Allen (Martha) of Marshall, MO. John Austin (Michele) of Savannah, MO. Grandsons Logan Keith of Ohio, Wesley Robert of Savannah, and granddaughter Courtney Ann of Marshall, MO. Many friends of which she cared about and loved deeply. She was Mom and Grandma to all who knew her. 

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, 11:00am August 24, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Savannah.
