Savannah school officials have reversed course and canceled classes for today.
Savannah had at first announced it would resume classes, but officials then stated that after re-evaluating Andrew County road conditions and considering the possibility of re-freezing the Savannah R-3 administration decided to cancel classes for Thursday, January 9th.
Officials acknowledged the change and stated it appreciated the understanding of parents and students, adding winter weather can be temperamental and conditions can change rapidly.
“Thank you for your patience this evening. As always, the safety of our students and staff is the top priority when these decisions are made,” the Savannah R-3 administration stated in an email.
