Shirley J. (Bouge) Sharp, 89, Dekalb, MO, passed away at home surrounded by her family and caregivers, Steve, Lisa, Stevie, Patti Lawson, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
She was born October 12, 1935, to Harvey and Anna (Zwaduk) Bouge, in St. Joseph, MO.
Shirley married James C. Sharp on December 7, 1958, and they were married 59 years before Jim passed away on November 1, 2017.
Shirley skipped the 3rd grade and was a 1952 graduate of Benton High School at 16 years of age. Her first job was a bookkeeper for three of IJ Nickerson’s businesses and later worked for the Farmer’s State Bank in South St. Joseph.
Shirley was married at Hyde Park Methodist Church and was a member of Dekalb Christian Church for many years. She was also a member of T-Cinco and Dekalb Homemakers Club.
Shirley entertained family and friends in their home and made many homecooked meals for those who worked for them on the family farm. She had a love for all things cardinal birds, puzzles, photography, scrapbooking, traveling and mushroom hunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her three children, Scotty Sharp, Debbie Carter and Lisa Lawson. Shirley has 6 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Saturday, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior, 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
