Paul Perez was born June 21,1931 to Julian and Catalina Perez. He was the 5th son of 11 children.
Paul entered the United States Army from August 5th, 1952, until July 23,1954. His service was terminated by an Honorable Release from active duty ranking as a Sergeant. Paul was married to Marcella Munoz Perez on February 9th, 1952, they moved briefly to South Carolina on the outskirts of Fort Jackson, from there he was shipped to Greenland and stationed on a top-secret military base. After his release from the service Paul and his wife and two young sons Richard and Michael lived in Topeka Kansas, he and Marcella welcomed 2 girls- Barbara and Karen.
With Paul working on the Union Pacific Railroad, His older brother Everisto convinced him to transfer to the Kansas City RR yards where he advanced from section gang to assistant welder under his good friend Santiago (Joe) Chavez. They lived in a one-bedroom trailer right off of State Avenue. Again, his older brother Everisto convinced him to go west into the Stony Point South neighborhood and Marcella and Paul purchased a 3-bedroom house by that time another daughter Sandra would arrive and 4 years later the youngest son Jack would join the family. Paul worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1974.
After retirement he worked for Golden Acers Nursing Home for eight years. Paul and his family enjoyed summer cook outs with the neighbors, camping to Colorado, South Dakota, Arkansas Wyoming, and even Mexico. Eventually they would move to Duluth Kansas where they resided until 2019 when Paul was admitted to the Onaga Rehab to present day. Paul and Marcella celebrated their 71st anniversary on February 9th, 2023.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Vic, Everisto, Marcella, Louise, Katie, Margie, and Betty; two sons, Richard and Jack Perez.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; a son, Michael (Georgia) Perez three daughters, Barbara (Leonard) Alcala, Karen Carnoali and Sandra (Charles) LeRoux; two brothers John and Jake Perez; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Perez; seven-grandsons Tony, Christopher, Lenny, Shane, Pat, Charlie, and John; five granddaughters Michelle, Jessica, Joanna and Sarah, Kathryn. 13 great-grandkids Jeffrey, Jordyn, Eric, Graham, Anthony, Christian, Hunter, Abigail, James, Gracie, Amy, Abe, Ronan and one great-great-granddaughter Erie Breeann. We will miss Paul’s gentle spirit and his loving ways.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. The visit will be Friday from 11: A.M. until the services.
