&nbsp;Gary Warnke, 84, Winston, Missouri, passed into his saviors arms Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

He was born November 30, 1935 in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Clarence and Nellie (Wade) Warnke.

Gary married Sharon K. Williams September 5, 1978. He was a meat-butcher for various grocery stores throughout his life. Gary was a 39th degree of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Baptist faith.

He will be remembered for his fun, loving, and humorous ways. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Garrison Glenn.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon Warnke; Daughters, Marie Glenn (Stephen), Susan Leatherman (Andrew), Penny Oestmann (Mark); Grandchildren, Paul and Matthew Glenn, Eric, Zachary, and Daniel Leatherman, Ashley Emerson, Casandra Oestmann; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Karas, Bette Hodson, Linda Buethe; extended family and friends.

Beverle Scott, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away June 20, 2020 at the home of her daughter in Plattsburg, Missouri.

She was born August 26, 1931 in St. Joseph, MO to George &amp; Anna Mae (Turner) Roberts.

Beverle married Tom Scott on February 11, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2009.

She was the Buchanan County Circuit Clerk for 17 years, and also worked at City Hall and the Buchanan County Assessor’s and the Juvenile offices. Beverle was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church. She was a past YWCA Young Matron, a member of the Missouri State Board of AAA, Past President of Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds Association.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Kelly Flores.

Survivors include sons: Mike Scott (Barb) and George Scott (Richard); daughters: Peggy Flores (Mike), Tammy Scott and Marcy Scott; grandchildren, Jody Wunschel (Pete), Andy Scott (Lori), Cody Flores and Cale Flores; great grandchildren Talon and Haley Scott, Lorenzo Wunschel.

Harry "Casey" Jones, 71 of Savannah, passed away June 18, 2020.

Casey was born January 16, 1949 to Harry and Edith (Redding) Jones. He married Karen Pawlusiak on June 8, 1985 in Dickinson, TX. They celebrated 33 wonderful years together until her passing in 2018.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry during Vietnam. Where he received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star Medal, two Overseas Bars, Sharpshooter, and a Purple Heart.

After serving, Casey worked for J.E. Dunn as a Carpenter and was the co-owner of Harry O's Irish Pub in Savannah, MO. In his free time, he enjoyed playing darts, pool and golf.

Survivors include, his father, Harry Jones; daughters, Heather "Brandy" (Charlie) Donahoo of Rea, MO, Mendy Jones of League City, TX, and Tennille (George) O'Neal of League City, TX; fiancé, Linda Bougher; brothers, Tom (Darby) Jones, Dick (Connie) Jones, Bobby (Theresa) Jones, James (Charlotte) Jones, and John (Jane) Schuster; sister, Katherine (Roger) Hayes; brother-in-law, Richard Peck; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Casey is preceded in death by, his mother Edith; brother, Ted Jones; sister, Terrie Peck; and step-mother, Fern Jones.

Mr. Jones has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. A Celebration of Life with Full Military Honors, will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at our chapel.

She worked as a custodian for the Savannah School District and Quaker Oats.&nbsp; She had previously worked for Whitaker Cable.

Connie married Daniel "Danny" Huffman and he survives.&nbsp; Also surviving are a brother Ron Burgess (Cindy); brother-in-law Roy Turner; aunt Sharon Miller; uncle Bill Schrupp; nephew Brian Turner; niece Sherri Johnson; numerous cousins including Marcia Hughes, Toni Goodwin and Ross Burgess.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Alfred C. "Doc" Burgess and a sister Thelma Turner.

Connie enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers, and enjoyed decorating for the holidays.

Memorial contributions may be made to a food bank of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be Friday, June 26, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel, and then the procession will precede to Mt. Auburn Cemetery for a graveside service.

Gerald Eugene “Fed” Rosenberger, 86, of Highland, with family by his side, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday afternoon, June 19, 2020.

Fed, as he was known by family and friends, was born September 12, 1933, one of four children of Edgar and Ruby Hopper Rosenberger, on the family farm near White Cloud.&nbsp; Fed was a lifelong resident of this area where he attended country schools, Hilltop Grade School, Martin School, before graduating from Reserve High School with the class of 1951.&nbsp; He served with the Kansas Army National Guard, from 1955 until 1959, discharged at the rank of SP2.&nbsp; He was born a farmer, was a good steward of the ground all of his life, worked with his Dad, with his son and later with his grandson &nbsp;before retiring in 2019 after 69 years under his care.

He was a member White Cloud Christian Church, the Kennel Club, and Saddle Club, both of White Cloud.&nbsp; He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 233.&nbsp; Fed was quite a guy, was always very friendly, personal, and always had a story to tell.&nbsp; Most importantly, he loved to have fun.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and watching his great-grands.&nbsp; He loved to mow, and was doing so up to two weeks ago. He said when someone went to check on him while mowing he said “I hope there are sunflowers and corn knives in heaven.”

Gerald married Patricia Idol at Manhattan Bible College April 28, 1951.&nbsp; They have made the Highland community their home for the last 44 years.&nbsp; Patty Ann survives of the home.

Also surviving are his children Randall Rosenberger (Delinda) of Atchison, Dedra Bunck (Bob) of Everest, grandchildren: Branson Rosenberger (Terri) of Troy, Nikia Weber (Jeff) of Atchison, Lindsey Miller (Tyler) of Wathena, Bobbie Ann Jacobson&nbsp; (Charlie) of Towanda, KS,&nbsp; Brice Bunck (Allison) of Topeka, Bailey Lanter (Michael) of Everest, great-grandchildren include Cassidy and Caden Rosenberger, Griffin and Emerson Weber, Bryer, Brailee, Bentlee, and Barrett Miller, Spencer Rose, Eli, Brett Violet and Duke Jacobson, Cole, Tenley, Creighton, and Sawyer Bunck, Tiffin and Beckett Lanter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Melvin Rosenberger, two sisters:&nbsp; Barb Gurwell, and Betty Dunn.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 until 6 p.m. Monday.

Services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Doniphan West High School Gymnasium, with Don Harter officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.&nbsp; Masonic Committal Service and Military Honors will be conducted.

Rickey Lee Chambers, 63, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at his home.

Rickey was born October 31, 1956 to Ardale and Rhodena (Fisher) Chambers in St. Joseph.

Rickey graduated from Helen Davis School and participated in Special Olympics.

He is preceded in death by his parents , sister Donna Vogel and niece Dee Ann Vogel.

Rickey is survived by his siblings, Larry Chambers (Gerry), Beverly Farrow (Lonnie), brother-in-law Dennis Vogel and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born March 11, 1935 in Rushville, MO, daughter of the late Ina and Ernest Crockett. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1953 as the class Valedictorian. She married Richard on June 27, 1953, he passed away in 1981. Eudena worked at R-4 Buchanan County School District from 1970- 1978, then Atchison Leather Products. She enjoyed quilting &amp; sewing, and working with the R-4 Buchanan County Alumni Association. She also enjoyed watching baseball, and attending all her grandkids little league baseball games. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was a Christian. 

Eudena was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Fry, her parents, sister, Alberta Crockett, and brothers, Marvin, Bill, and Albert Crockett.

Johnny Ray Matthews 67, of St Joseph, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at his home. 

He was born August 26, 1952 in St. Joseph, son of Shirley and John Potts Matthews. He attended DeKalb High School. He married Ava Miller on October 10, 1969. Johnny spent many years working construction, working on many homes builds in the area. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, restoring classic cars, and collecting antiques. He was a member of New Home Baptist Church. 

Johnny was preceded in death by father, John Potts Matthews and his wife Flora Ann, mother, Shirley Goldesberry and her husband David, sister, Debra Matthews, and brother, Everett "Doodle" Dwayne Matthews, Sr. 

Survivors include: wife, Ava Matthews, daughters, Shirley Matthews and Sheila (Timmy) Matthews of St. Joseph, son, Garrett (Tammy) Matthews of St. Joseph, sister, Joyce (Everett) Jonas of St. Joseph, half-sister, Amy Hecker, grandchildren, Heather Pritchett, Sean Pritchett, Kami Matthews, Olivia Matthews, Grayson Matthews, and Johnny Pete Sauter, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. James Kerns officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb, MO. Robert "Bobby" E. Gardner 64, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 in Saint Joseph, MO. 

He was born April 18, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Leatha and Wiley Gardner. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wiley "Sonny" Gardner, sisters, Patricia Herrick, Gloria Williams, and Barbara Ann Pyles.

Robert "Bobby" Eugene Gardner  1956 - 2020

&nbsp;Earl F. Steeb passed awy Thursday, June 18, 2020 at age 96. 

He was born July 31, 1924, son of the late Karl Steeb and Hazel Miller Steeb. His twin brother, Merrill Steeb, survives. 

He graduated from Pickett High School, St. Joseph Junior College, University of Missouri Law School, and the U.S. Air Force Pilot's School. He was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and practiced law with Downs and Pierce Lawyers. He participated in two opposed landings in WWII, Tarawa and Saipan, with the U.S. Marines. He was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force troop carrier command during the Korean War. He made numerous flights with the U. S. Air Force to and from Vietnam delivering munitions and hauling coffins in return.

He is also survived by daughter, Lisa West, granddaughter Jamie West, vet-pet, and daughter, Nancy Steeb. 

He was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Resler and Wilma Resler. 

Mr. Steeb will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home, Inurnment in Bates Creek, WY. There are no scheduled services.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;David Lee Barnett 75, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at Mosaic life care hospital in St. Joseph, MO. 

He was born March 28, 1945 in St.Joseph, MO, graduating from the Faucet High School, St. Joseph Junior College, and then Missouri Western State College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a minor in Mathematics. He served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Serving on the USS Haven Naval Hospital ship in Long Beach, CA, US35 Air Anti Submarine Squadron 35, stationed in San Diego, then a 1 year tour on the USS Hornet in the Western Pacific combat zone of Viet Nam, from 1968 - 1969, he was the recipient of the National defense service medal, Armed Forces expeditionary medal (North Korea) Vietnam Service Medal, as well as meritorious unit commendation medal. David was very proud of his military service. David worked in the meat packing industry in St. Joseph at Seitz Foods and in Denver Colorado at Circle C Beef Co, Sterling Beef, Pepper Packing and Champion Box Beef as a supervisor. He enjoyed watching Denver Broncos, and was avid college football fan, in his younger years he enjoyed taking care of his cars, and farming with his Dad and brothers. He was a member of VFW Post 7945 of Thornton, CO, VFW in St. Joseph, MO and the Agency Christian Church. 

David was preceded in death by father, Thomas Leroy Barnett, mother, Betty Lou Wood, and brother Layne Gale Barnett. 

Survivors include step mother, Donna Fern Barnett, St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Sandy (Phil) Moore, St. Joseph, MO, son, Michael (Diane) Barnett, Cliffside, NJ, step daughter, Lisa (Mike) Flannery, St. Joseph, MO. brothers, Jim (Julie) Barnett, and Wayne (Carol) Barnett, and sisters: Linda (Bill) Bywaters, and LaDonna (Dean) Fergison, grandchildren: Devin &amp; Zechary Moore, step grandson, Jarrod, two step-greatgrandchild, and the love of his life, Sharon Barnett of St. Joseph, MO,

David Lee Barnett  1945 - 2020

My Mama, our two son’s Nan (as they called her) and our 3 grandchildren’s Great Nanny, passed away peacefully at Maple Heights Nursing &amp; Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

Mary Lee Ulsh was born August 29, 1931, one of two children born to Ted and Alice (Foster) Main.&nbsp; She grew up in St. Joseph, MO and graduated from Lafayette High School.&nbsp;

She married Don Ulsh on December 20, 1952 after his return from Korea in 1951.&nbsp; They eloped and were married in Industrial City, MO in what turn out to be the biggest blizzard of that year.&nbsp; From this union came a daughter, Karla.

Mary Lee and Don owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts serving Hiawatha and Sabetha for over 40 years, where she loved interacting with all of the shop guys and customers.&nbsp; She was known for her sharp tongue, her crazy sense of humor, and wearing her feelings on her sleeve.&nbsp; She was also known to have a “Lead foot” while driving, receiving two speeding tickets in the same day from the same officer.

However, her biggest joy in life were her two grandsons, Jeb and Gabe.&nbsp; Every single second she spent with them gave her so much happiness.&nbsp; Her main hobby was crocheting, making beautiful baby blankets for many babies born in the county and elsewhere.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband Don; her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Don Estes; her parents, Ted and Alice Main.

Survivors include:&nbsp; daughter Karla (Dennis) Harter, Hiawatha, two grandsons Jeb (Zukeika) Harter, Woodbridge, VA; Gabe (Amanda) Harter, Garden Plain, KS; three great-grandchildren:&nbsp; Kinley, Grayson, and Graham; niece Kristy (Bob) Plummer, Olathe, KS

Frank “Pete” Mendez, Jr., 89, of Hiawatha, died early Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.&nbsp; Father Dan Gardner will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday.

Pete was born March 18, 1931 in Hiawatha, the son of Francisco and Trinidad Pantoja Mendez and was a lifelong resident of Hiawatha.&nbsp; He grew up here where he attended school.&nbsp; Pete worked for the Missouri Pacific Rail Road for 22 years before operating his own trash and tree service for 22 years before retiring.&nbsp; He enjoyed staying close to home, working in his yard and watching over his pets.&nbsp; He also enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

Pete married Carol Joan Welsh in 1950.&nbsp; Together they had five children before they divorced.

Survivors include his children: &nbsp;Mike Mendez (Janet) of Basehor, KS, Randy Mendez of Hiawatha, Tyrone Mendez, Cynthia Lehew (Greg) of San Tan Valley, AZ, with 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.&nbsp; The family would also like to recognize Rita Soden, as she was a big part of Pete’s life caring for him and her visits at Maple Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: John Mendez, Ray Mendez, a brother Joaquin Mendez, two sisters Augustina Joslin and Mary Baker.

&nbsp;Jim had a personality bigger than life. A lifelong resident of Elwood, Kansas. 

He was born in St Joseph, Mo on December 15th, 1922 and passed away in Wathena, Kansas on June 12th, 2020. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, World War II Veteran, and a fun-loving storytelling grandfather and great-grandfather.

Community pride was something that Jim took very seriously. For many years, Jim and his beautiful wife, Katherine, were at the Elwood park running the concession stand and changed many young lives learning the art of baseball. He would mentor anyone with a problem and according to him, he always knew the right answers or would just wing-it. Jim delighted in letting his mischievous side show. He loved to laugh and tell stories. Even if you had heard one of his stories before, he’d put a new twist on it.

You could usually find Jim in his weedless garden or relaxing by his water garden pond with its calming waterfall and his peaceful Koi fish swimming around.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Victoria (Bottiger) Hopper; his parents, Stella (Parker) and Brantley Hopper; sisters, Helen Hopper, Gladys Dabner, Peggy Rogers and Bernice Butler; and brothers Brantley Hopper, Jr. and Leonard Hopper.

Jim leaves behind his children, Timothy Hopper (Lee Anne), Shari Brewer (Gary); grandchildren, Katherine Brink (Jeff), Kevan Brewer (Amy), Kyle Brewer, Mathew Hopper, Mark Hopper and Andrew Hopper; great- grandsons, Andrew and Tyler Brewer; sister Maxine Nims (102 years young); numerous nieces and nephews.

After meeting Jim for only 2 minutes, he made you feel like you were part of his family. He was a once-in-a-lifetime person who will be truly missed by all.

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Joseph Hanway announces his passing.

Donald, 92, of St. Joseph was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020.&nbsp; He was born to Rose and Felix Hanway on January 12, 1928.

Donald married the love of his life, Cloa Eileen Trivelpiece , on December 28, 1963.&nbsp; She passed away on November 5, 1999.&nbsp;

Donald and Eileen brought three daughters to this blessed union.&nbsp; Donna (Dale) Kline, Taos, MO; Mary Vette, &nbsp;St. Joseph; Patti &nbsp;Hollars, St. Joseph.

Donald graduated from the Christian Brothers High School then served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.&nbsp;&nbsp; After the war, he came back home to work on the family farm, where he remained and raised his family.

Donald was a wonderful father, grand-father, and great-grandfather.&nbsp; He is survived by his daughters; seven grandchildren, Mandi Hanway, St. Louis; Whitney (Eric) Strong, St. Joseph; &nbsp;Jessica Kline St. Joseph; Danielle (Jason) Davis of St. Joseph; Austin Vette, Cosby, MO; Ellie Kline, Taos; and Evan Vette of Cosby, currently at Boot Camp in San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren Kendall and Eva Strong; sister Dorothy (John) Halling, Denton, KS; brother-in-law Jim Noll,&nbsp; Effingham, KS; good friend Richard Roe, St. Joseph;&nbsp; caregiver &nbsp;Pam Ringot , Elwood, KS;&nbsp; his farm animals and faithful dog, Monster.

He was reunited in death with his wife, Eileen; parents, Rose and Felix; brothers, Felix, Jr.,. Leonard, and Charles; sisters, Catherine Hart, and Mary Noll.

Donald was a faithful Catholic and a hardworking dairy and crop farmer.

He was very charitable to many causes.&nbsp; He will be forever remembered&nbsp; by all who knew him.

&nbsp;Charlie L. Detwieler, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020.

He was born July 1, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Edward and Irene (Herring) Detwieler.

Charlie married Virginia Swope January 29, 1971. She survives of the home.

He was employed with Wire Rope for 41 years, retiring in 2007. Charlie enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was also owner operator of Ed and Irene’s Campground in Big Lake, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Donald Detwieler.

Additional survivors include daughter, Tina Woodcock (Dan); step-children, Brenda Hughes (Mike), Rhonda Norton (Bob), Shannon Hodge; grandchildren, Manuel Vega, Gabby Hook (Dominic); brother, Raymond Detwieler; sisters, Louise Cortner; Florence Stufflebean; Dorothy Horn (Buddy); numerous nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Richard K. “Dick” Harris, Sr., 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020, surrounded by his family.

He was born December 18, 1932 to Tom and Estrella (Davidson) Harris, Sr.

Dick married Ethel May Chapman December 1, 1951; she preceded him in death January 3, 2015.

He was a Leadman at Seitz Packing for 42 years. Upon his retirement, Dick and Ethel continued their love of camping and traveling. They enjoyed their time spent at parades in the New Orleans area.

He was a lifelong, active member of South Park United Methodist Church. Dick was active with Boy Scouts and Tribe of Mic-O-Say at Camp Gieger, where he served in many capacities, including Troop 41 Scout master for several years. Dick earned several adult awards including White Coup in the tribe of Mic-O-Say.

He was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan and season ticket holder for the Mustang’s.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ethel; parents; brothers, Tom, Charles, John; sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Elinore; grandchildren, Dallas and Aaron Hill, Freida and Billy Ward; and grandson-in-law, Troy Shryock. .

Survivors include his children, Joyce Hill (Herb), Linda Embrey (Tim), Kenny Harris (Lisa), Julia Bradford (Dane), Keith Harris (Judy); 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Everett Chapman; sister-in-law, Margaret Evans; numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong friends Mary and the late Bobby Fletcher, extended personal and church family.

Delia Mae Velazquez, 90, of St Joseph, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home. 

She was born September 27, 1929 in Walnut, NE, daughter of Laura and Frank Frisch. She married David Velazquez in 1949, who preceded her in death in 2013. Delia worked at St. James Catholic School as a cook and later at HD Lee, retiring as a Supervisor after 27 years. Her hobbies included reading, dancing with her husband David, going to the casino, garage sales, time with her family and her grandchildren who often referred to her as Grammy. Delia was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church, Saint Ann's Alter Society. 

Delia was preceded in death by husband, David Velazquez, father, Frank George Frisch, mother, Laura Velata Frisch, infant son, David Joseph Velazquez, grandson, Ben Velazquez, infant great grandsons, Parker &amp; Devon Velazquez, siblings Gordon Frisch, Roger Frisch, Myrtle Lusby, Sylvia Sanders, Elaine Kolar and Laura Campbell. 

Survivors include daughter, Diane (George) Tolson of St Joseph, son. Steven Wayne Ohlensehlen 68, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital, Saint Joseph, MO. 

He was born August 8, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas, son of the late Alma &amp; Warren Ohlensehlen. He graduated from Craig High School, class of 1970. His favorite hobbies were John Deere memorabilia, hot wheel cars, collecting rare coins, and he was an avid chiefs fan. Steve was of the Lutheran faith. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Susan Ohlensehlen. 

Survivors include two sons: Bryan (Sara) Ohlensehlen and Dustin Ohlensehlen both of Saint Joseph, MO, brother, Alan Ohlensehlen of Savannah, MO, and three grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Shirley Mae Thornton 66, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday June 15, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital, in Saint Joseph. 

She was born August 10, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Lavona &amp; George Ellis. She married Larry Thornton on July 4, 1976, he preceded her in death on November 23, 2016. She worked at Kmart, and Walmart. She enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry Kent Thornton, son, Jason Tyler Thornton, granddaughter, Maylee, brothers Charles and John Ellis, and sister-in-law, Patty Ellis. 

Survivors include son, Nathan (Michelle Cooper) Thornton, daughters, Amber (Randy) Green, and Haley (Chad) Despain all of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Matthew, Kodee, Karter, Madisynn, and Kent, and a brother, Danny Ellis. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Shirley Mae Thornton 66, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday June 15, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital, in Saint Joseph. She was born August 10, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of the late Lavona &amp; George Ellis. She married Larry Thornton on July 4, 1976, he preceded her in death on November 23, 2016. She worked at Kmart, and Walmart. She enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry Kent Thornton, son, Jason Tyler Thornton, granddaughter, Maylee, brothers Charles and John Ellis, and sister-in-law, Patty Ellis. Survivors include son, Nathan (Michelle Cooper) Thornton, daughters, Amber (Randy) Green, and Haley (Chad) Despain all of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Matthew, Kodee, Karter, Madisynn, and Kent, and a brother, Danny Ellis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. She was born September 5, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. Judy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Burkella (Compton) Hardin; and brother, Donald Hardin.
