Marlene enjoyed playing golf, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was married to Edward Gellings on Sept. 28th, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison. Mr. Gellings preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2019.

Clarence "Sonny" Vernon Garton, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at a St. Joseph health care facility.

Ricky Osborn, of St. Joseph, passed away on January 9, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Helen (Sowards) Osborn, son Bret Osborn and brother-in-law Steve Norman.

Ricky is survived by his wife Sarah Osborn, daughter Amanda (Jon) Ozenberger, grandchildren Jerod, Christian and Vianne Osborn and Jax Ozenberger. &nbsp;He is also survived by his sister Kathy Guess, handsome brother Randy (Diane) Osborn and sister Gail Norman. Sisters-in-law Tina (Roger) Blake, Barbara (Bill) Doolin and brothers-in-law Steve (Margie) Thrall and Mickey Thrall. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ricky was born outside of Stanberry, Missouri.&nbsp; He graduated in 1968 from Worth County High School.&nbsp; Rick entered the U.S. Army in June of 1969.&nbsp; He met and married Sarah (Thrall) on January 12, 1974.

Rick was a devoted family man whom enjoyed spending Sundays with his family.&nbsp; Every Sunday was spent at his mom and dad's house; playing games, working around the farm, visiting and laughing.&nbsp; He had a fantastic sense of humor and the biggest laugh. He was a teaser and loved a good joke/prank.&nbsp; He raised three of his grandchildren and loved all of his grandchildren deeply.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13th from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.&nbsp; Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Carol Lee (Springer) Vonderschmidt, 80 of rural Hiawatha, passed Friday morning, January 8th at her home with her family around her.&nbsp; She was the second child of five children born to Lloyd C. and Margaret M. Springer.

She was born June 8, 1940 at home in Ogden, KS.&nbsp; The family soon moved to their farm home the Pleasant Run Community, northeast of Manhattan where she attended the 1st-4th&nbsp;grades.&nbsp; She attended fifth grade through twelve in Westmoreland, KS, graduating from Westmoreland high school in 1958.&nbsp; Carol assisted her father with all aspects of farming until graduating from high school. &nbsp;She is survived by her best friend and husband, COL (R) William (Bill) Vonderschmidt. They were married in Hiawatha and have been together over 40 years. Also surviving are their five children: &nbsp;Kevin Knudson of Topeka, Michael (Linda) Knudson of Topeka, Kim (Michael) Lewis of rural Paola, Lea (James) Winter of LeCompton, KS and Wm Allen Vonderschmidt of Gardner, KS.&nbsp; 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp; Sisters, Judy (Ralph Runnebaum of Manhattan, Sharon Baker of Moscow, Idaho and Bonnie Springer of Westmoreland, KS.&nbsp; She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lloyd C. and Margaret Springer and older brother Lloyd D. (Tammy) Springer.

She enjoyed caring for and helping people, especially those with medical issues.&nbsp; She received her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate from Highland Community College and was the early EMT Training Officer for Brown County Volunteer Ambulance Squad.&nbsp;&nbsp; Worked as a Nurse Assistant in the Hiawatha Hospital, later working in Physical Therapy.&nbsp; In 1984 she started working at Stormont Vail Hospital of Topeka, KS in the Physical Therapy Department and received her qualification as a Certified Physical Therapy Assistant (CPTA) in 1987 through Washburn University, working at Stormont Vail until she retired in 2000.&nbsp;

Carol was very active in all the organizations that she belonged.&nbsp;&nbsp; Active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Hiawatha for 43 years, served in all the officer positions and was President for the last two years.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was a member of the NEK Home Health and Hospice Volunteers for seven years and served as President of the volunteers for six of those years.&nbsp; Resigning this past October due to declining health.

Her deep faith helped her through all aspects of her life.&nbsp; &nbsp;Early in life she asked the Lord to help her be an instrument of his love and cause his light to shine on others through her.&nbsp; She was always refreshed by the word of the Lord shared by Pastor Charlie Robinson at Northridge Church.

She loved the outdoors, working in the garden, her flower beds and helping with the lawn, just about anything outdoors, sometimes just sitting and taking in all of Gods miracles.&nbsp;&nbsp; She enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting many places across the country and other countries, seeing places she never dreamed she would get to visit.&nbsp; Most of all she loved her husband dearly and every moment with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; After her husband retired, they built a new home on their farm East of Hiawatha and relocated in 2007.&nbsp;

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions made to the Carol Vonderschmidt Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.

Kim F. Courtney, 66 of Rosendale, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his residence.

He was born March 24, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Henry and Mariel (Barton) Courtney. Followed by 4 siblings; Tamara (Courtney) Todd, Barton Courtney, Bridget (Courtney) Sanders, and John Henry Courtney (died at birth).

Kim valued honesty above all else. He was known for his unceasing generosity for his family, friends, or even a stranger. His other defining qualities would be his extreme passion for knowledge and his amazing ability to never judge people accepting them just as they are.

Kim started and ran KC Appliance Repair locally for many years until his health started declining. Kim had many other jobs throughout his life, but some of what he was very proud of was, the Rosedale Water District where he was the sole overseer in control and maintained the facilities, and his time working for Bob Faye’s Appliance.

Kim did not have any children of his own but would put special claim to his nephew, Dennis Todd and his niece &amp; Goddaughter, Courtney Sanders. Both Dennis and Courtney would tell you how impactful Uncle Kim was to their lives.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister (Tamara), both brothers, and one nephew.

Kerry Neil Klein 69, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home. 

He was born November 22, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Norma &amp; Earl Klein. He married Patsy Welch on May 22, 1971, and she survives of the home. He graduated from Lafayette High School and Missouri Western State University in Criminal Justice. He retired from the St. Joseph Police Department after 20 years of service, then retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol as Motor Vehicle Inspector. He served in the United States Air Force and the Missouri Air National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best buddy, Craig Hayes. He was a member of the (FOP) Fraternal Order of Police, and the Blue Knights Missouri X retired police officers organization. 

Kerry was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include: wife, Patsy Klein of the home, brother, Nelson "Reed" (Patricia) Klein of Conroe, TX. 

Mr. Klein will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to the Blue Knights Missouri X for Scholarships.

Robert Henry Deatherage Sr. 83, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 in Saint Joseph. 

He was born April 21, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He graduated from Benton High School, and he worked at Wire Rope Corporation of America, retiring after 35 years as wire inspector. He also owned and operated Bob's Realty in south St. Joseph. He enjoyed dancing, and playing pool. He was a member of Marine Reserves. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Oliver C Deatherage, mother, Viola May and Junior Denham, sister, Barbara Jean Marker, and a great grandchild, Caden Blanton. 

Survivors include: son, Bob H (Jennifer) Deatherage, Saint Joseph, MO, daughters, Roxanna Rich, Ann Rene Deatherage, Rita (James) Roupe, of St. Joseph, and Rona (Ron) Morrison, Galena, MO, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, &amp; 1 great-great granchild, and his previous wife, Charlene Deatherage. 

He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the friends of the Animal Shelter in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Robert Henry Deatherage Sr. 83, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 in Saint Joseph. He was born April 21, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, serving on the altar society and funeral dinners. Ardena was a member of The Order of Eastern Star Chapter #154. She enjoyed collecting fine china, fishing, and travelling with family. Ardena loved being with and taking care of her family. Ardena married John Richard “Dick” Loch on March 19, 1950; he preceded her in death on February 14, 2020.

Her parents, a son Rick Loch, (1991), a brother, Alfred, and sister Elizabeth (Mason) proceeded her in death. 

Survivors include a son, David and wife Angela (Ellison) Loch, Lawrence, KS, granddaughter Alyce (Adam) Dressman, two great grandsons Myles and Nolan Dressman, Frankfort, KS and grandson John Loch, Lenexa, KS. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Joseph Dale Duling, 72, of Atchison, KS, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Amberwell Hospital of Atchison. Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Eskridge (KS) Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Macular Degeneration Foundation and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas, Atchison, KS 66002, who is handling the arrangements. He graduated from Eskridge High School in 1966. Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1966 and served until March 1967 when he was honorably discharged due to medical reasons. Joseph worked for the Kansas Highway Department of Transportation for over 40 years in the State Office Building in Topeka where he printed up the blue prints for many highway projects. Joseph was a former member of the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Eskridge. Joseph is survived by two sisters, Mary (Chuck) VanPetten, Atchison, and Susan (Steve) Nolte, Dahlonega, GA; sister-in-law, Sherry Duling, Michigan Valley, KS; several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Duling.&nbsp;&nbsp;

William "Bill" Kiefer, 73, of St. Joseph, died January 7, 2021.&nbsp; Bill was born December 11, 1947, in St. Joseph to Carl O. and Margaret (Siskey) Kiefer.

He was a truck driver for different companies and was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his children. Chris Kiefer (Barb), Scott Kieferr (Shelly),, Erin French (Kevin), Alisa Cox (Randy); grandchildren, Amanda Hedrick-Cox (Autumn), Jessica Force (Dylan), Dillon Cox (Rayne), Lukas Kiefer (Emily), Jake Kiefer (Abby), Madi French (Seth) Presli French, Felicia Barrera (Michael), Brittnay (Kiefer (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Keegan, Dawson, Raelynn, Aspen, Oakley, Christine, Joey, and Navaeh.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Carl and Albert.

Bill enjoyed playing cards, video games especially pinball, playing billards, and watching game shows.

Alexzander Troy Hawley, age 20, of Munjor, KS died January 6, 2021, at his home.&nbsp; He was born October 25, 2000, in Thornton, Colorado, to John Hawley and Anna McIntosh Hawley.&nbsp;

Alex graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp; He enjoyed the outdoors, playing online games with his friends and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his father, John Hawley of Allentown, PA; mother and step-father: Anna Hawley and Cody Dana of Hays, KS; grandmothers: Carrie Bockelman of Amity, MO and Kathleen Hawley of Parker, CO; grandfather: Stan Hawley of Parker, CO; sister: Heather Hawley of Parker, CO; half-sisters: Zoey Dana&nbsp; and Charlie Dana both of Hays, KS together with many aunts, uncles,&nbsp;cousins, and his beloved dog, Pepper.

Dennis B. Myers  1949 - 2021

James K. “Jim” Novotny, of Severance, KS, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Highland Care and Rehabilitation Center.&nbsp; He was 80.

Jim was born September 11, 1940 at Valparaiso, NE and grew up where he attended schools there.&nbsp; He was one of eight children born to the late Adolth and Louise Eddie Novotny.&nbsp; Jim was interested in the military and joined the Marine Corps, serving from 1961 until 1967, during which time was the Vietnam War.&nbsp; After discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as an auto mechanic and at a salvage yard for a number of years.&nbsp; He became interested in the military once more, but this time he joined the Navy where he served from 1982 until he retired in 1988.&nbsp; Upon retiring, he moved to Falls City, Nebraska and soon after to Rulo where he enjoyed the Missouri River.&nbsp; Jim drove around the countryside in his Lincoln Town Car with his 2 dachshunds, so much so, everyone would say “There goes Jim”.

He was driving around one day and stopped at Highland Care Center and became acquainted with Delilah Chase who was getting ready to retire in 2007.&nbsp; Soon thereafter, he moved to Severance so he and Delilah could enjoy places together and became best friends and as confidants’. She survives at her home in Severance.

Also surviving are a son Robert Novotny in Ohio, a brother Steve Novotny (Sandy), a sister Ida Schindler, all of Valparaiso.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a son Richard who died in an automobile accident, and five brothers.

It was his wish to be cremated and remains buried on the Chase family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery, Severance.

James K. “Jim” Novotny, of Severance, KS, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Highland Care and Rehabilitation Center.&nbsp; He was 80.Jim was born September 11, 1940 at Valparaiso, NE and grew up where he attended schools there.&nbsp; He was one of eight children born to the late Adolth and Louise Eddie Novotny.&nbsp; Jim was interested in the military and joined the Marine Corps, serving from 1961 until 1967, during which time was the Vietnam War.&nbsp; After discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as an auto mechanic and at a salvage yard for a number of years.&nbsp; He became interested in the military once more, but this time he joined the Navy where he served from 1982 until he retired in 1988.&nbsp; Upon retiring, he moved to Falls City, Nebraska and soon after to Rulo where he enjoyed the Missouri River.&nbsp; Jim drove around the countryside in his Lincoln Town Car with his 2 dachshunds, so much so, everyone would say “There goes Jim”.He was driving around one day and stopped at Highland Care Center and became acquainted with Delilah Chase who was getting ready to retire in 2007.&nbsp; Soon thereafter, he moved to Severance so he and Delilah could enjoy places together and became best friends and as confidants’. Cora L Rullman, 96, St. Joseph, MO was granted her place in Heaven Tuesday, January 5th, 2021.&nbsp; She was born December 16th, 1924 to William and Maggie (Hape ) Watson in St. Joseph. Cora graduated from Lafayette High School.&nbsp; She even took welding classes to help in the factories during WW II.&nbsp; In her youth she especially enjoyed trips to get penny candy, Saturday matinees with a friend and dancing to big band music at the Frog Hop.&nbsp; Cora was employed as a library aide at Hall Elementary School. She was a member of Parkway Christian Fellowship. She developed a knack for needlework and shared many of her projects with her loved ones. Cora also loved playing cards and games, still beating us at 95.&nbsp; Mom married Daddy, Jack Rullman, on April 12th, 1952. They were married for 35 years before his death.&nbsp; In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death&nbsp; by two brothers and a son-in-law. Cora was such a wonderful, supportive mother and grandparent.&nbsp; She leaves behind 6 children: Judy Tafoya, John (Leslie) Rullman, Linda (Kirby) Nickell, Patti (Randy) Buckles, Janet (Jeff) Yuratovich and Karen (Jim) Fox, 18 grandchildren: Jonathan (Corey), Vickie (Mike), Kelly (Justin), Laura (Joseph), Ty (Kaela), Michelle (Dan), Chris (Lauren), Elizabeth (Jason), Melissa (Tyler), Jacob, Mikel (Amanda), Ashley, Kyler (Mindy), Derik (Toni), Landinn (Shelby), Denae (Cameron), JT, Kelsey (Trevor), 35 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.&nbsp; &nbsp; She never missed a chance to cheer us all on!&nbsp; Cora probably broke a world record for the number of sporting events, plays, recitals, concerts, church events, school programs, etc, that she attended. Douglas Anthony Spratt born July 12, 1961 in St. Joseph, Missouri died on January 4th&nbsp;in Sanford, Florida. Doug was 59 years old and worked in the Personal Fitness Industry for 35 years.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Arthur Spratt.

He is survived by his 14-year-old son, Joseph Anthony Spratt and former wife Lynnette Roznowski Spratt of Sanford, Florida; Mother Mary Ann Spratt; sisters Allison Spratt, Kathleen Thrasher (Harry) of St. Joseph Missouri and Laura Huerter (Linus) of Seneca, Kansas, and brothers Tony Spratt (Deana) of Windermere Florida and Mark Spratt of Amazonia, Missouri.

Doug received a B.S. in Physical Education from Missouri Western State College in 1984 and from there pursued his passion for fitness and nutrition. He soon moved to Windermere, Florida and worked for Walt Disney World for several years before opening Body Coach Personal Training in 1993.

Doug also had a passion for magic and started performing as a magician when he was 16 to the amazement of his audiences. Doug was also known for his love of all animals, especially reptiles.&nbsp; He had a boa constrictor at the age of 15, and it escaped in the house until we heard our Mother scream, “It’s under the couch!” He also had two dogs, Juno and Penni, and two cats, Sugar and Georgette, whom he loved and cared for.

His passion for fitness and serving others is what drove him. The clients he has helped reach their goals is in the thousands. His sister Allison wrote, “Doug was an awesome brother and my hero. Even as an adult my brother was there for me. He helped me when I was in a bad place in my life. Thanks to Doug I became a confident, happy, and fit woman! He taught me everything I know about fitness, nutrition and being a Personal Trainer. Thanks to him I was able to help so many people in my job as a Personal Trainer. He will never be forgotten, just terribly missed.”

I have Doug to thank for my career as a business owner and Personal Trainer at Body Coach. His love of fitness has grown inside of me as we worked together for years. He never lost that beautiful smile even when he was battling cancer and handled it with incredible strength and dignity.

He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving father, good friend and caring man to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Douglas was of the Catholic Faith.

Hillman H. Hull, 95 Troy, passed away January 5, 2021 at Wathena Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Wathena, KS.

Born in Morrison, Oklahoma August 20, 1925, he moved to Troy with his family in 1942. Mr. Hull graduated from Troy High School and Highland Junior College and attended classes through Emporia Teachers College. He was a member of the former Burr Oak Baptist Church and later attended the First Baptist Church of Troy.

Mr. Hull was a Navy veteran of both World War II on Guam and the Korean Conflict aboard the Destroyer USS Bradford.&nbsp;He was a former teacher of LaGrange and Old 60 country schools for 9 years, retired in 1991 as Vice President from the 1st&nbsp;Bank of Troy, as well as many years working on the side as an area electrician and as bricklayer for Midway School and Troy Armory. He was a 75-year American Legion and lifetime VFW member, loved the outdoors, hunting, shooting, fishing and was an avid rock and arrowhead hunter.

He married Grace Wiedmer Hull on May 13, 1951 at the Wathena Baptist Church and they enjoyed 66 good years together until she went on to be with the Lord on May 17, 2017.

Mr. Hull was preceded in death by his parents, John M and Florence (Law) Hull;

an infant brother, Harley Hull and infant sister, Dorothy Jean; a sister Ruth Hull and brothers Dean, Tom, and&nbsp;John R Hull; wife Grace; as well as daughter Pamela S Pickerell.

Surviving:&nbsp;&nbsp;One son, David Hull, Troy; one son-in-law, Jimmy Pickerell, Troy; two sisters, Mary Belle Gaul, Troy and Marian Karr, Portland, TX; two grandchildren, Jared Pickerell and Jena (Tyler) Williams, Atchison, KS; two great-grandchildren Jack and Judah Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald Eugene Carron was born April 21, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Lila Gaston Carron and Erman Carron and grew up in White Cloud, KS.&nbsp; He passed away January 1, 2021, at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.&nbsp; He was 78.

Ron graduated with the class of 1960 in Highland.&nbsp; He decided to make the military his career and joined the US Navy. Ron served for 25 years which included the time period of the Vietnam War.&nbsp; During his career, he was stationed in Japan, Hawaii, and Adak, Alaska before he retired January 1, 1990 as a radioman first class USN.

Ronald had a strong love for the Lord and studied Bible/Ministry at Manhattan Christian College.&nbsp; He never stopped studying and completed many on-line courses with Billy Graham Ministries.

Ron’s other interests included various musical instruments, cooking and spoiling the neighborhood pets.

He married Jewel Ruth Baskins, January 1, 1982, at Sparks Baptist Church.&nbsp; They moved to Hiawatha after he retired.&nbsp; She died October 8, 2009.&nbsp; He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son Troy Carron, Jewel’s daughters:&nbsp; Pamela Miller, Dianna Brasington, sister Betty Moutray, brother David Fillmore, dear friend Lois Elrod, and 3 legged buddy CJ from next door.

She was born December 22, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Elza and Helen (Sparks) Didlo.

Norma attended Wathena High School, later earning her GED. This was a big accomplishment for her.

She worked as a Psychiatric Aide II at the St. Joseph State 
Hospital for many years, retiring in 2015. While residing in St. Joseph,
 she lived in the house once owned by Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman.

Norma was a big Elvis Presley fan and attended two of his concerts.
 She also was into collecting Elvis memorabilia and Beanie Babies, among
 many other things. She liked dogs, but she liked her dogs, Buster and 
Bonnie, most of all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Helen Didlo; and brother-in-law, Jack David Withrow.

Survivors include sister, Cleeta Withrow; brothers, Thomas Didlo 
(Charlene) and Mark Allen Didlo; nieces, Debbie Spurgeon and Tammy 
Didlo; nephews, David Withrow (Kathy) and Elza A. “Tony” Didlo; 
great-niece, Maria Spalding (Derek); and great-great-nephew, Arthur

Bernard A. Siegmund, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2021.

He was born October 7, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to Chester and Theresa (Stahl) Siegmund.

Bernard married Mary Margaret Ryan February 24, 1962. She survives of the home.

He was in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1960.
 Bernard was a member of Grace Evangelical Church, where he also attended Bible study.

He enjoyed taking care of his cats, golf, collectibles, yardwork and being outdoors.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.
 Survivors include sons, Kevin Siegmund, John Siegmund (Migdalia); 
grandchildren, Ember and Victoria Siegmund, Alvara Valiente; his beloved

Margaret "Peggy" Anna (Theis) Stanton, 79, of Troy, KS, passed away peacefully Monday Jan. 4, 2021, at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. 

She was born Nov. 29, 1941, in Atchison, KS. She was the daughter of the late Millie and Nicholas Theis. She attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy located in Atchison, KS. She received her bachelors degree in English Composition from Missouri Western State University, Summa Cum Laude, and a Masters Degree from the University of Kansas in Museum Studies, Summa Cum Laude. Peggy worked at Leglar Barn Museum, Lenexa, KS, as a Museum Curator. She was very involved as member of the Doniphan County Historical Society and the Troy, Kansas, Sesquicentennial (150-year) Celebration. She also was active with Catholic Charities, and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, Troy KS. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Lucy Peden, twin grandchildren George L. and Nicholas C. Stanton, two great-grandchildren, Trevor Brown and Owen Curtis. 

Survivors include brothers, Nicholas (Mary Lou) Theis, Cheyenne, WY, and Jerry Theis, Sunrise Beach, MO. Eight children beginning with the oldest: George (Kim) Stanton, Troy, KS, Sharon Curtis, Cameron, MO, Brenda Owens, who now resides in Florida, Dennis (Debbi) Stanton, Overland Park, KS, David "Shane" (Tammy) Stanton, Troy, KS, Dana Chenlo, who resides in Nebraska, Jessica Stanton, St. Joseph, MO, and twin sister Errica (Michael) Coon, Sunrise Beach, MO. Peggy left behind 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Irene Richardson, 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at a St. Joseph health care facility. 

She was born September 1, 1938 in Eldon, MO, daughter of the late Betty (Hoskins) and John Hickman. She graduated from Moberly High School, class of 1956, She graduated with an Associates Degree from Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO. She married Delbert Richardson on July 8, 1960 in Moberly. Alice worked as a Church Secretary for Carpenter Street Baptist in Moberly then later1st Baptist Church in Marshall, and later as a Secretary at Stetson Hats in St. Joseph. Alice loved children, and especially spending time and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church in St. Joseph. 

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John Sherman Hickman and Betty Bell Hickman and brother, Stan Hickman. 

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Delbert Richardson of St. Joseph, sons, Paul Tyler (Barbara) Richardson of New York and Peter Thomas (Dorothy) Richardson of New Jersey, sisters, Marion (Howard) Mayes of Jefferson City, MO and Margaret Carter of Vermont, brothers, Donald Paul Hickman of Texas and Robert (Pam) Hickman of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren, Robyn, Justin, Heather, Dirk, Jacob, Shay and Tyler, great-grandchildren, Aria, Connor, Elliott, and Oliver.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Jeremiah Bradford officiating, The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Alene Hubbard, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Carriage Square Health Care.

Alene was born on January 26, 1928 in Wathena, KS to the late Herman and Elsie Marie (Ege) Greub.

Alene married Franklin Hubbard in 1945 and to that union seven children were born.&nbsp;

She was a devoted wife and caretaker to her children.&nbsp; She also worked at Whitaker Cable Company and retired from InterServ.

Mrs. Hubbard was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and loved playing bingo.

Survivors include sons; Wayne, Glen, Mark and Roger Hubbard; daughter, Michelle Bally; sister, Josephine DeLay ; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Alene was preceded in death by her husband; son, Vernon Hubbard; daughter, Kathleen Hubbard and sister, Mary Perryman.

Parish Rosary 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM.&nbsp; Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.&nbsp;

Visitation will be open to the public from 12:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.
