Willena Lawrence age 74, of St. Joseph, MO., went home to be with her Lord, June 7, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 17, 1946 to Byrle and Thelma Shepard in Harrison County, MO. Willena married Ronnie Lawrence on May 18, 1963 in Trenton, MO. He survives of the home.

Ron and Willena owned and operated a Residential Care Facility in Trenton, MO for 23 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents,&nbsp; grandparents and nephew Mike McLain.

&nbsp;Willena enjoyed spending time with family, reading, yardwork, sewing, grandsons baseball and basketball games and the Kansas City Royals.

&nbsp;Additional survivors include her loving family, Sister Dena (Dean) McLain, Bethany, MO; Daughter Rhonda Stratton, St. Joseph, MO; Son Je­ (Shauna) Lawrence, Olathe KS; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nephews, several great nephews and nieces and special family friend Travis Muff­.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 Sunday, June 20th at Heaton Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel. Services at 10am Monday June 21st at the Chapel. Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Veterans Cemetery.

Glenda M. (Gerard) Dale, 93, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021.

She was born December 5, 1927 in Atchison, Kansas to Glenn and Alta (Oldham) Gerard. She grew up in St. Joseph, the daughter of restaurateurs.

Glenda married Stanley I. Dale, Jr. in February 1949. He preceded her in death in August 1996. Her proudest accomplishment was being the “first lady of St. Joseph” as the mayor’s wife at the age of 22.

Glenda enjoyed being a homemaker. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She also was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Alta Gerard; her husband, Stanley Dale; her brother, Alan Gerard; and her son, Stephen Dale.

Survivors include her son, Stanley I. Dale, III; daughter, Cynthia McCord; grandchildren, Darren Cole (Katie), Natalie Bush (Mike), Gresham Dale, Clio Verdi (Cory), and Aidan Simmons; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Dylan, Anakin, Mira, Felix and Anthony; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kim McCoy-Weller, 61 of St. Joseph, passed away June 9, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 7, 1960 to Lanny and Ruth (Childers) McCoy. They proceeded her in death.

She graduated from Lafayette High School class of "78", attended Missouri Western, and Emporia State University. She married David Weller in 1985 and they later divorced.

Kim loved photography and to draw. She also loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs!

Kim worked in packing houses during college and retail/restaurant management over the years.

Survivors: Her daughter, Danielle Weller Brown, sons: Derrick (Hadley) Weller, and Justin Elliott; two grandchildren, Todd &amp; Brantley Brown, all of the Kansas City area; sisters: Kelly McCoy- Hamilton of Forest City, Kristie McCoy, Karrie McCoy-Rickel, and Karen (Chad Thompson) McCoy all of St. Joseph; one aunt: Joy Sheha of Boundbrook, NJ; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous friends and her beloved cats.

Henry Jefferson Wilson, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. 

He was born December 21, 1946 in St. Joseph, son of Anna and Irvin Wilson. He was married to Toni (Downey) Wilson, who preceded him in death. Henry worked at Smiths Sawmill. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and playing bingo. 

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Toni Wilson, brothers, Gene, John and Bill Wilson, sisters, Mary Harness and Beverly Bascue and grandson, River Bradbury. 

Survivors include, daughter, Tabitha (Mark) Velez of Craigsville, WV, daughter, Rebecca Thorngren of Mound City, MO, sister, Alice Langston of Elwood, KS, brother, Herby (Rineta) Wilson of Elwood, KS, grandchildren, Jim Bradbury, Jacob Bradbury, Justin Velez and 5 great-grandchildren.

Sue Alice Shirley, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

She was born September 7, 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Kenneth and Bernice (Rice) Harvey.

Sue married Howard Shirley November 8, 1968. He preceded her in death December 21, 2020.

She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she was very active in her church community as an Elder. Sue taught grade school in Wisconsin and Missouri until retiring in 1998. After retirement from the public school system, she taught at the unemployment office and prison systems for others to receive their GED. She also volunteered at Heartland Health System/Mosaic Life Care and Living Community as an in-home caretaker.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Luann Hart. Survivors include son, Brian Shirley (Micky); sister, Bette Chamberlain (Dwight); 3 nieces; and 3 nephews.

George Madison “Matt” Woodrow was born on April 27, 1951 in Cartersville, Georgia and left this earth on June 6. 2021.

Matt lived a full life. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the Carrier Independence. Matt worked hard, doing well at so many jobs in so many parts of the country. There are too many stories to be told.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Helene H. and George H. Woodrow, III; and brother, Stephen.

Matt is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis, her 4 daughters and families; daughters, Rebecca Lehman (Marc), Sarah Sredzinski (Mike); grandchildren, Victoria, Brianna, Marcus and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Anastasia, Nathaniel, Emma; sister, Jeanne Cloud; niece, Alicia Cloud; and nephew, James Cloud.

Matt was kind, generous and loving but with a wicked sense of humor. He loved his family, friends, music, NASCAR, fireworks, and America. But mostly Matt loved the Lord and Phyllis who captured his heart at the age of 15, whom he married in 2011.

Charles Floyd Burnett 83, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home. 

He was born July 16, 1937 in St Joseph, MO, son of the late Mary and Floyd "Buzz" Burnett. He graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1955. He worked in the Civil Service Department with the Buchanan County Sheriffs Dept, retiring after 20 years as a Sergeant. He enjoyed classic cars, playing softball when he was younger, and camping. He was a member of Eagles Lodge and a Christian. 

Charles was preceded in death by wife, Connie Mae Burnett, son, Tim Burnett, and his parents. 

Survivors include: son, Charles "Mike" (Pam) Burnett, Saint Charles, MO, daughters, Pam (Randy) Moore, Kearney, MO, and Kim (Randy) Moss, Saint Joseph, MO., 9 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren, and his good friend Joan Brott.

Charlene (Swaim) Brandt, 96, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at her home, Corby Place in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born April 21, 1925 in Bedford, Iowa to Howard and Gertrude (Downing) Swaim.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Charlene moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 1944.&nbsp;&nbsp;She then met and married Ben Brandt in 1948 where they spent 48 years on the family farm in Burr Oak Bottom.&nbsp;&nbsp;After Ben’s death in 1996, she moved to Wathena.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Wathena.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, her parents, brothers; Bill Swaim and Bob Swaim, son-in-law, David McDermit.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors are her sons; Lee (Ruth) Brandt of Wathena, Kansas&nbsp;&nbsp;

Edward “Eddie” M. Finger, 90 of Powhattan died peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Amberwell Hospital, Hiawatha KS.&nbsp; 

He was born June 15, 1930 to Christian and Clara Wenger Finger on the family farm near Powhattan where he lived his entire life.&nbsp; He attended Green Valley Country School and later graduated from Powhattan High School with the class of 1948.

Eddie married Agnes Schuetz on October 15, 1951 at Mercier, Kansas.&nbsp; “Eddie and Aggie” then began their farming lives together on the Finger Farm southwest of Powhattan that had been originally established by Eddie’s father, Christian Finger.&nbsp; From this marriage were born six children:&nbsp; Wayne Finger (Vickie), Fayne Finger (Vicki), Dale Finger, Brenda Weih (Justin), Terry Finger (Patricia), and Janice Schroeder (Tim).&nbsp; Eddie also leaves 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.&nbsp; Eddie and Agnes enjoyed travelling, going to church socials, and driving around looking at the farms and countryside.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes L. Finger on December 28, 2019 and siblings Sam Finger, Chris Finger, Ernest Finger, Emiel Finger, Ruben Finger, Elizabeth Andres, Helen Dodge, and grandson-in-law, Matt Becker.

Eddie was a successful farmer. He won numerous awards including the Balanced Farming and Family Living Award by Kansas State Chamber of Commerce, the Conservation Award by County Commission and Kansas Bankers Association, and Farm Bureau Century Farm in 2013.&nbsp; Eddie also served as a board member for the Powhattan School from 1968-1971. He loved to talk farming, gardening, and livestock incorporating his wit, humor, and charm.&nbsp; He loved to grow and share his watermelons by having a watermelon feed.&nbsp;

A celebration of Eddie’s life is planned for Tuesday, June 15, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a service at 10:00 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, Kansas. Shane Spangler will officiate the service.&nbsp; A private gravesite interment will follow the service.

Judy Ann (Ward) Felch, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021.

On July 26, 1944, she was born to George W. Ward, Jr. and Lillian (Thompson) Ward in King City, Missouri.

She married Gary Dean Felch, Sr. on July 8, 1962. After 55 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on December 28, 2017.

She will be remembered as the most thoughtful person. Judy always thought of her sister, Donna, first and protected her fiercely. She made everyone feel loved, meaningful and hopeful for better things to come. Judy enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers.

She was preceded in death by her children, Gary Dean Felch, Jr. and Sheila Elaine; parents; and three brothers.

Survivors include sister, Donna Crawford; nephews, Garrett Nordstrom and Dax Mayes; aunts, Vivian White and Vinnie Evans; and devoted friend since the first grade, Agnes Sharp.

Internment at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He married Dianna Newton on May 30, 1970 in Sabetha, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She survives of the home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Steve was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Edward and Robert Shellenberger and a sister, Mary Merriott.&nbsp;

Rhonda Sue Cornell, 53, of Saint Joseph, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Rhonda was born and raised in Saint Joseph, the daughter of Bill and Doneta Cornell. She graduated from Central High School and immediately began her career loving animals as a veterinary assistant at Twin Pines Animal Clinic. Rhonda recently retired from Twin Pines after working there 37 years.

Rhonda was a cat aficionado and the proud parent of several. She took great pride in her nieces, family … and Yankees, Cowboys, etc. Rhonda had a generous and empathetic nature that she shared with all who knew her. She was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church. She will be sorely missed.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Doneta Cornell. Survivors include sister, Julie (Gary) Bacon; nieces, Lauren, Leslie, and Rylie Bacon; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On May 6, 1979 she was born to Darren Lanum and April Clifford in Chardon, Ohio.

Heather was a member of the Church of Troy in Garretesville, Ohio. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her children. She was the love of Miguel’s life and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Robert “Bob” Vestal, Jr., 56, Amazonia, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2021.

He was born August 18, 1964 to Robert and Frances (Harrison) Vestal, Sr. in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bob was a farm hand when he was younger and worked in the Savannah and St. Joseph School Districts for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, camping, mowing and cutting wood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Vestal, Sr. and sister, Terry Brooks.

Survivors include wife, Sarah Vestal; children, Amy Marley (Jason), Kyle Vestal (Brittany), Bronson Vestal, Ashley Vickers (Philip), Amber Nelson; Bradley Banks (Darlene Gilbert); 14 grandchildren; mother, Frances Hahn; brother, Randall Lee Harrison (Dottie); sister, Rhonda Bragg (Tony); nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Alma Geraldine Fish 95, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in Saint Joseph, MO. 

She was born March 23, 1926 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Sylvia and Roy Lovelace. She worked at State hospital in St. Joseph, as a Physciatric Aid. Alma enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church.

Joy “Bubbles” Taylor, 69, Clarksdale, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021.

She was born July 6, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Bobby and Joy (Nolan) Gregg, Sr.

Joy attended Benton High School and Missouri Western State University. She enjoyed gardening, canning, decorating, two-stepping with Dave, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was always happy when she had a baby in her arms. Joy loved celebrating the 4th of July, which was her favorite holiday. She was known affectionally by her family as “Bubbles.”

Joy was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bobby Gregg, Jr, Ronnie Gregg; grandson, Jesse Scott.

Survivors include son, Michael Hughes; grandchildren, Brittany Hughes, Michael W. Hughes; great-grandchildren, Jalynn Bildeback, Brayden Weiser; daughters, Christina Jones, Donita Scott, Nicole Taylor; sisters, Sandra Wilson (Lonnie), Sherry Karen (Kim); companion, Dave Taylor; best friend, Wendy Graves; host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Robert "Bob" Lee Conard 70, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home in St. Joseph, MO. 

He was born February 13, 1951 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Laura "Erma" and Ivan Conard. He graduated from Benton High School class of 1969, where he was an all-district football player, and earned a scholarship to Missouri Valley College. Bob served in the National Guard for 8 years.

He married the love of his life, Terry Edwards on April 14, 1973. They shared over forty-eight years of life together, loving each other and building a family. They were each other’s best friends. Bob excelled in sales, working for Mead Containers, Willamette Industries, Stone Containers, Weyerhauser, and Owens- Illinois where he was the National Red Meat Accounts Manager.

His greatest pride and joy was his family, coaching his son in little league baseball and basketball for many years, and always being there for his daughter’s activities. Bob’s children cherish many memories, and tell hilarious stories of their time spent with “Dad”. Bob also relished spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events as well, rarely missing one. From the moment they were born, he loved being their “Papa Bob”.

He loved his Lord and was very involved with his church having served as Elder and Board Chairman at King Hill Christian Church, and later as Elder, financial committee member, and life group leader at Central Christian Church. You could always find him in the church lobby greeting and conversing with everyone.

He thoroughly enjoyed golf, and in retirement was a member of the Legends of Golf at Fairview where he made many new friends. Bob also chaired the Pregnancy Resource Clinic’s golf tournament for several years. Until recently he was an active member of Southside Sertoma and enjoyed the many friends who were in “The Club”. You always knew where Bob was in town when you found him behind the wheel of his beloved blue Ford Raptor.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Charles and Jeanette Edwards, sisters, Laura (Ben) Gentry, and Shirley Couldry. Survivors include, wife, Terry Conard of the home, daughter, Annie (Ryan) Eaton, and son, Daniel (Michelle) Conard, grandchildren, Dylan &amp; Lindy Eaton, Kyla &amp; Rilyn Conard, honorary daughter, Becca (Will) Wallace, honorary grand daughter, Gracie Wallace, numerous nieces &amp; nephews, and sister in law Lynn (Barry) Musser, along with many dear friends.

Winfred Dale “Winnie” Wells, 60, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

He was born May 2, 1961 to Winfred Dale and Mary Alice (Holt) Wells in St. Joseph, Missouri. They precede him in death.

He was a proud 1979 graduate of Lafayette High School and enjoyed supporting the high school, and the North Side in general, in many ways through the years. Winnie was a kind-hearted, loving, people person and even after death he continued showing his generosity by giving the gift of life as an organ donor.

Winnie could get along with anyone and enjoyed socializing with his many friends. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. Survivors include daughter, Audrey Wells; son, Caleb Wells; brother, Chuck (Kim) Wells; sister, Debbie (Bob) Berning; companion, Ronda Mayhew Stanart; many friends and family.

Milan "Slobby" Milich 72, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home. 

He was born March 17, 1949 in Passau, Germany, son of the late Magdalena and Radosav Milic. He graduated from Horseman High School in Gary IN, and Missouri Western State University. He married Kathryn Hurt on May 13, 2015 and she survives of the home. He served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Truck Driver working for the MO-KAN Mail Distributors. He spent 6 years as a Paramedic for the Stewartsville Ambulance Service, and Voluntary Fire Department. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and spending time with friends, family, and loved ones. He also enjoyed black and white westerns about simpler times and with greater family values. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. 

Milan was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Milica Milich, brother, Milovan Milich, and sister, Milica Ann Milich. 

Survivors include, wife, Kathryn Milich of the home, daughters, Amanda (Truman) Milbourn and Amy (Kemp) Skidmore, sons, Michael (Kayla) Hurt, Bobby (Jennifer) Larson, Christopher (Stephanie) Milich, and Isreal (Jessica) Bratton, 19 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

She was born September 26, 1948 in Pickering, Missouri to Troy and Alice (Clouse) Auten.

She worked as an accountant at the Iowa Realty Company in Des Moines, Iowa, for 40-plus years.

Virginia was an avid book reader. She also enjoyed spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Auten; and two brothers, Charles and James Auten.

Survivors include her sisters, Emily Ashlock (Roger), and Rosie Hussain (Haytham); her former husband, John Mikkola; three stepchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members; and her two beloved cats, Jasmine and Callie.

David Bonham, 68, of St Joseph, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home. He was born January 17, 1953 in St. Joseph, son of Joann and Clayton Bonham. He graduated from Central High School. David worked at Mead Products and Wal-Mart. He loved playing music, and was a Bass player for The River Church band, where he was also a member. He also enjoyed gardening and his flowers. David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debra Woolery. Survivors include, wife, Rosemary Marie Bonham of the home, son, Michael (Rhonda) Bonham and David (Angie) Shaw of St. Joseph, brother, Scott (Rhonda) Bonham of Blue Springs, MO, sister, Sherri Bonham of Noblesville, IN, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
